Lot's of bands are doing the pop punk hardcore thing. I love it, it's awesome music. It's poppy, but hardly popular, these bands are still playing ****hole venues like other hardcore bands.

Who are you to say that punk wasn't made to be played poppy? It can be played any way it wants to.

I think that pop punk is a good term to have because its obviously the yang to the yin of the hardcore and peace/anarcho punk things and a sense of balance is necessary in all things including punk rock. Without balance there is only chaos.

I just don't think its worth having a war over though. Ask Bob Mould what he thinks. He expressed both hardcore and pop punk ideas in his music, therefore it was balanced and better than most.
