Jawbreaker promo cassette tape

If I really liked this band I'd bid the 99c just because no one looks at the tapes.

Jawbreaker used to be my favourite band, for a while. Haven't listened to them for ages though

has anyone heard Blake's new band, Thorns of Life? all i can find is a couple ****ty mobile phone videos of them playing little venues. they're self-recording an album right now, i can't wait till it's released!

they seem to be someplace between Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil. it's a very familiar sound (hard to escape from with that voice he's got), and i think it's gonna be good.

Anyway, Jawbreaker is pretty sick, I like them a lot.

Sorry to resurrect a seemingly dead thread, but I'm dissapointed that Jawbreaker isn't getting that much love here on MB. I ****ing love this band so much.

Even though practically everyone hates Dear You, it's my favorite album by far. The tracks Basilica and Chemistry off of it are amazing lyrically.

^ Even though Dear You isn't my favourite it's still a pretty underrated album. It has some of my favourite Jawbreaker songs on it.

Yeah, a lot of mine too. I still love Bivouac and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy, but Dear You was my first album of theirs' and it'll always be my favorite.

Etc. doesn't get the credit it deserves, either. Lots of good B-sides there.

i think the problem with Dear You is basically the kind of 90's scene punk mentality....it was produced, sounded good, and was on a MAJOR!!!!!!!!....and even though years later DGC dropped the rights to the record and the members of Jawbreaker re-received the rights to re-release...and did with those really great bonus tracks...."Shirt" is one of my all time favorite tracks

beleive it or not it was a real pain in the ass to find a copy of Dear You in the late 90's early 2000's...simply because DGC binned it....but still was under contract for the rights

so basically i think it's underrated mainly due to the fact that there is professional production....but it was the hardest to find Jawbreaker album for a while

persoanlly i think its a great album....but not as good as 24 Hour Revenge Therapy...

Yeah, **** DGC, honestly. I bought the Blackball reissue a few years after it came out, when I first heard Fireman; I got lucky. Haha.

I do agree that the scene mentality had a lot to do with it being underrated though, "alternative" was trendy then and a lot of the record companies at the time were beginning to capitalize on it by plucking up "underground" bands (DGC also signed Nirvana and, I think, Sonic Youth in the 90's). A lot of the fans probably felt betrayed.

It's still a really great album, though. Not even close to as mediocre as a lot of the crap that came out that decade from other bands that were trying to cash in.

considering your location says "east bay" did you by chance make it to the Thorns of Life show at Gilman a couple years back?....i have the recording which is unfortunately the only recording of them...unless the album gets released.....and they were so good....real shame they broke up so quick
