Default G.B.H aka Charged GBH

We have a thread for Black Flag, who quite rightly so, deserve accolades, but what about GBH who surfaced in the early 80's, and GENUINELY are one of the first bands to fuse punk and metal. Here is a track from 1982. It still sounds good today, even though it is 25 years old. A truly forgotten band, who are still going to this day!

It's a brilliant album-nice to know people acknowledge it.

They are one of the few 2nd Gen punk bands I think are actually listenable , although I think Discharge are much better.
I don't think they come anywhere near Black Flag in quality though.

Default Still sound good after 30 (ish) years

I have always had a soft spot for GBH having seen them many times at the Hammersmith Klub Foot in my younger days, and seeing / hearing that powerful thrash sound that even today blasts out of my car.

I always felt that the earlier Clay recordings (Leather Bristles studs & Acne), had a much more raw powerful crip sound - almost sounds like you are there in the room watching them perform, and I though that the sound dipped to an anti climax with the release of city baby - but thats just personal taste.

I have exchanged a few emails over the years with Colin, who always seems to take the time and effort to reply, and seems to really enjoy what he is doing - and now at 45 has recently started motorbike grass track racing - In between still giggine hard

I think I only know one song by them, "City Baby Attacked By Rats", but it's a pretty good song.

i bought a copy of "The Clay Years" for 10 cents at a salvation army in 1992-3.....had no clue who these guys were....just that they looked pretty damn punk on the cover....the opening song "Necrophilia" is to date one of my all time favorite punk rock songs
