And yeah, I realize some of these bands can be pegged as emocore of melohardcore.
Propagandhi is awesome, they're sort of difficult to classify in this section as their newer stuff is kinda thrash/punk, where their older stuff was pretty much straight up pop punk. Either way they rock and I'm not a fan of punk anymore, but they still get loads of play time for me.

Definitely check out Superchunk, especially the earlier stuff like Slack Motherf***er. Magnapop wasn't too bad either.

Otherwise, I'm not crazy about most pop-punk, & even Superchunk would be considered more indie than punk.

untrue, what is it specifically that you don't like about them? they are more technically sound than half of the punk *******s out there today, their last two albums have been ****ing incredible you don't know what you're saying.
they write about REAL historical and political issues in the world as opposed to the majority of rich ignorant 'punks' who complain about 'oppression' and 'the man', so give a band like Propagandhi some credit where it's damn well due alright?
