thread bump

actually saw "Misfits" but it was for a tv show so I searched for a music thread

i only really like the Danzig years

recently just got "Earth A.D." and "Static Age" and hugely enjoying both

i wouldn't really say that they're any darker than the Ramones, they use B-Movie imagery mostly, though it's more lurid

I only have heard 'Static Age', and feel it's a fantastic album. Shockingly melodic, really.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

I've been revisiting my Misfits albums a lot in the past week or so, I guess because of Halloween. They really were a great band.

Really only a fan of the Danzig years. Saw Danzig on Saturday and he played a Misfits set at the end. Was ****ing amazing.

Why so shocked? It's 70s punk with one foot in the 50s. Classic Misfits.

Danzig years are the only ones that count. The Jerry/Danzig animosity pretty much ruined them for good - worthless music after they split. Samhain was different but just as good or better, to me.

Misfits, Samhain, Early Danzig (later has been getting back on track) are all great IMO.

Got to see him sing all eras of his career it was amazing honestly. Graves was okay, but just can not compare to Danzig.

I agree - I haven't listened to any recent Danzig though.
'Danzig Legacy' which is described as "Danzig/Samhain/Danzig & Doyle perform Misfits" is playing here soon. Is that what you saw?

I've been really getting into them recently. I can understand most of the lyrics but yes they do yell them sometimes which scrambles it a bit. Glenn Danzig is one of my musical heros, so you can imagine my stand on that issue. I'd love to see him live sometime, it's on my all time list of things to do.

Actually, it's not at all clear which issue you mention let alone your stance on it.
That doesn't matter though. Here's something fun: 'She'

The Misfits are darker than Ramones, but in the same jokey manner that Black Sabbath was dark, albeit with a more B-movie feel like you say. Misfits were also more in your face and looking for controversy than Ramones, something that I can appreciate as I love nipple twisters.

Danzig years were the only worth listening. I love those old grainy recordings, the secret to why they've stayed successful is nostalgia + Danzig's timeless vocals.
