Do You Have A Scene?
Hey guys! Wherever you're from. Tell me if you guys have a punk or ska scene. We had a pretty good firehall here in Hanover but it got shut down because of stupid kids breaking stuff and causing trouble. We had some pretty awesome bands play though. Roger Merit and the Disasters, River City Rebels, Plan A Project, Toxic Narcodic, and many more. Anyhow I was wondering what the scene in other small towns around the world are like, and what bands have played there.

We have a good little underground scene in Birmingham again now, sort of almost a revival of the old metal and rock scene that spawned some of the biggest acts in the world back in the '60's. Sabbath, Zeppelin, Traffic, Clapton and pretty much anyone else in the British scene back then played Birmingham's clubs and pubs.
Right now there's a number of cool indie bands playing as well, hopefully some of them will get decent labels and start getting their music out there. |

Chicago is pretty notorious for its hip-hop/rap, but we've got a very distinct rock underground. Those of you who come from the area or are familiar with Kill Hannah, you know that Kill Hannah and their "genre" set the stage, so to speak, for many aspiring artists.

I am part of a scene growing bigger from this small area, which is in western pennsylvania, east of pittsburgh, towards the outskirts leading towards pittsburgh, the scene brings in a variety of bands....all awesome in their discripitve ways.. From hardcore, to ska, to punk, to indie, to piano, it all rocks. My favs that have came through: Whatever it takes(Chrs#2 of Anit flag-side project), The A.K.A's(NY), Spitalfield(CA), Amanda Rogers(Immigrant Sun records),Too Short Notice(NJ)... and so on. Im proud of the scene, and what it has brought to so many people. I met my boyfriend and some of my best friends this way.
River City Rebels have come here as well. The beltones, please tell me you've seen the beltones!? P.S. Props to the one who started this post! |

Never saw the Beltones, Sorry. We did have alot of bands that fell through here though also. Murphys Law,and DOA were supposed to play, but disaster struck them and they couldnt make it. Keep your eyes open for a Horror Punk band called From The Grave. I'm sure they'll play around Pittsburgh sometime. Its my buddy Phills band. They've gotten pretty big for a small town band. Thanks for the Props!

we've got a decent punk/hardcore scene here, there's a lot of shows that give local bands a chance to play, mainly in community centers, that sort of thing. the university has a lot of bands come through, but they're mainly mainstream, so not really incorporated with the underground scene.
