I hope they go back to the old sound, just to get the newer emo fans to piss off ha! Yeah the 1st 5 albums and early eps were bloody fantastic!

Man, before 2000 they kicked ass, but I think everyone agrees with me there. Davey has a great voice, though.

Sing the Sorrow was ok. It was the sound of the band maturing and it has some good tunes. But Decemberunderground was just embarressing

i grew up listening to answer that and stay fashionable, shut your mouth and open your eyes, very proud of ya, black sails in the sunset, their all hallows ep, and have watched them evolve over the years. and as a lot of people had already pointed out if a band does not evolve then that is a very very rare case. the way a band sounds is going to change in more cases than none and I think AFI just happened to hold a case where they started with a very punk rock (if you will) sound and moved to a more progressive experimental newer age sound. and when that happens you mess with a variety of people who like different sounds of music so there's going to be a lot of heat thrown at AFI for evolving, changing, and progressing..and for them to keep on making music I think is awesome. and as a few people had pointed out davey went through some rough patches and band members were changed and as well all know when change occurs change happens.. So long story short I will always love AFI, even if I don't enjoy their new music nearly as much as I did back in the day with their first few albums.
