How many much TBS songs have you heard? I have everything they've done and I know it doesn't sound like this. For one, lyrically/vocally they're completely different and musically this album is nothing special as it was with Sing The Sorrow/Art Of Drowning but not TBSey at all. Yes, its not as 'dark' sounding as Sing The Sorrow, but I wouldn't go so far as to compare it to a pop-group. Then again this album was the most mainstream successful I think, which is probaly were a 'true' AFI fan hate comes from.

I found nothing wrong with AOD or STS, they're my 2 favorites, I can't get bored of them. And as for instruments being less important, I really doubt that BSITS had much to do with instruments at all. In fact, most of it sounded the same. But I liked one, so I liked the rest.

I've heard quite a few TBS songs, they all gave me a serious headache. Some of these AFI songs are pretty much the same headache, and I can't stand it. It's that style they're using that I remember being used in TBS songs. Don't like it. But now that I'm forcing myself to give them second listens, The Missing Frame and Kiss&Control are pretty good.

Music Is Pwnage 07-12-2006 08:21 PM

I just realized something! They ditched the whole "Let's make the title completely irrelevant to the song" thing! Aww man!!!! I liked that!

I've listened to the album through quite a few times. It maybe (loosely) the same genre, but AFIs sound is alot better done (musically) and more melodic/slow/expierenced sounding then Taking Back Sundays.

You have to be deaf to think there are any similarities between AFI and Taking Back Sunday.

Agreed, if you would like to explain where the similarities are that would be great! AFI are just a band who have grown, although i do like STS a little more than the new record. They are a terrific live band too! Just seen um in glasgow the other day!!

Early stuff I found. The first 2 work no problem but the second 2 I can't figure out. I do everything it says but it doesn't work so if someone could figure it out that would be nice.

Davey Havok has an awesome voice. Not many can hit the pitches he does without sounding like a screeching cat.

There's a button in the top left that says download. Clicking that worked for me.

skindredluver 01-21-2007 11:55 AM

i used to like afi and wouldnt stop listeing to misss murder but now i hate them.

littleknowitall 01-21-2007 11:56 AM

I dunno, they're alright but their voice is too irritating for me to bare very long.

gottaSCREM 01-21-2007 12:05 PM

They have a couple of good songs but that's all. I wouldn't listen to them regularly, but good enough for once in a while.

Mr.Jack 01-21-2007 02:32 PM

i have only heard "Miss Murder"

Ornette 01-21-2007 02:36 PM

Go listen to their earlier stuff. Black Sails In The Sunset is awesome.

gottaSCREM 01-21-2007 05:06 PM

Their Sing For Sorrow album was ok. I liked The Leaving Song Pt.2
I've got a question WTF is the meaning to Girls Not Grey.

tdoc210 01-21-2007 06:00 PM

it means dance with plush toys

Loser 01-26-2007 04:26 PM

What do you guys think of MTV playing Love Like Winter. AFI has become too popular and sadly turned their back on good rock...If that's what you want to call it.

Blain 01-26-2007 05:13 PM

I could care less, I like Love Like Winter. I also don't have cable, so I don't watch mtv:)

Loser 01-26-2007 06:41 PM

That's a good thing. You won't have to see the corporate bull**** that they sell or see the poision they show. :)

Ornette 01-27-2007 07:55 AM

Yeah Love Like Winter is a good song.

Skid Mark 01-28-2007 01:31 AM

^ fo sure
I'm very fond of The Interview and The Missing Frame

QueenNothing 01-31-2007 09:43 AM

The Dutch version isn't too bad... It's the American shows they put on there sometimes that are pathetic. :')

You've said that for 3 diffrent bands, just because a band makes it mainstream doesn't mean they change the music I can tell you AFI hasn't....I don't think, every band has made it mainstream it doesn't matter. All this mainstream junk is BS and an excuse to not like a band or genre.

AFI definitely did change their sound. Actually I'd say they've been changing since Black Sails in The Sunset. Switching out two members will do that.

QueenNothing 02-01-2007 10:03 AM

Hah i have someone agrees with me

swim 02-01-2007 10:08 AM

They changed their sound and became garbage before they went mainstream. Two albums before to be exact.

QueenNothing 02-01-2007 10:14 AM

I just dont really like AFI. Not me....

circle_of_rage 06-15-2008 03:11 PM

A Fire Inside

Im new here guys, so sorry if im starting a thread that has already been discussed, but what are your guys thoughts on AFI. I mean, back in the day they were a awesome punk band, and they have moved into the mainstreme more the past few years since sing the sorrow, but personally i still love them.

What are your thoughts?

Alfred 06-15-2008 06:41 PM

Love the old stuff... some of the new stuff is okay.

Loser 06-15-2008 06:49 PM

Old stuff was good, Miss Murder was decent, Silver And Cold was good....Other than that I can't say much positive about the newer songs.

FashionTips 06-15-2008 11:09 PM

Everything up until Sing the Sorrow ruled. The Miss Murder Era or whatever they are in now is odd. They probably only have a few goodish songs in my mind. But I grew up listening to them all the time, so I like them.

15Steps 06-16-2008 02:53 AM

Sing The Sorrow is one of my guilty pleasures :X

anarcyst_pye 07-15-2008 04:30 PM

ONE OF THE BEST PUNK BANDS EVER, NO DOUBT. xp

Alfred 07-15-2008 04:37 PM

I can't tell if you're serious or joking. Cut the fucking caps.

FaSho 07-24-2008 06:25 AM

I liked afi from "answer that and stay fashionable" all the way up to "decemberunderground" because even theyre sound has changed its still a great sound...but has anyon heard theyre newer song "carcinogen crush"? because i think that was just horrible
