wow was that a joke...............or have you ben living under a rock

fairy_dust 11-09-2004 06:18 AM

Just because you dont like them doesnt mean they suck. I personally dont like simple plan but that doesnt mean they are a crap band, they sell records so they must be doing something right. And simple plan dont claim to be punk. they are a pop-punk band and as a pop-punk they have everything right... lots of energy and cacthy songs.

hopefornothing 11-09-2004 07:16 AM

pop-]PUNK

WeIRd lIl MosHeR FrEak 11-09-2004 09:52 AM

simple plan = absolute rubbish

hopefornothing 11-10-2004 07:36 AM

rubbish i love that word

Thrice 11-10-2004 03:09 PM

I <3 Simple Plan :)

ForgottenHero 11-10-2004 08:35 PM

I think they suck. They arent even a punk band. They make a great pop band, but they aren't punk by any standards. Pop punk is another idiotic phrase. Punk is no longer punk when it becomes popular. I'm sorry but thats the way it is! :banghead: It's either punk music or it's pop! End of story! :soapbox: ~Hero<(".<)

ForgottenHero 11-10-2004 08:37 PM

I do agree with Thrice though. Listen to what you want, and if people dont like it, tell them to piss off. That in itself is more punk than the music. ~Hero<(".<)

Pimp_racer 11-10-2004 08:48 PM

lol he doesnt really like simple plan he was being sarcastic

i dont see any energy in any pop-punk songs. that includes bands like Stink 182 and good charlotte. Ya they're making money and selling albums, but they're completely selling out. They just want their money. they dont care about their music. the people who like those kind of bands probably will refuse good bands like Black Flag, The Dead Kennedys, and Minor Threat. i guess pop-punk and mtv in a way is a good thing. it keeps real punk in the non-mainstream. Than again, its bad because most punk like anti-flag and pennywise and bad religion have a good message in their music. if they became popular, that'll be good so their message gets to peopl. but pop-punk gets the attention of the masses. i dont mind popular bands or people liking them. i just like to listen to bands that most people havn't even heard of. it sorta makes me individual when it comes to interests. as i said i dont mind popular bands, its just most popular bands tend to sell out

jesus 11-11-2004 04:35 PM

i don't think there's something wrong with a band becoming popular. If they keep playing the same kind of music then i'll still like them. It sure doesn't make them any more or less 'punk'.

especially if they aren't punk to begin with...

so, if the bands Rise Above listed suddenly became popular they wouldn't be punk anymore? Cuz liek, no one's heard of the Dead Kennedy's unless they only listen to pun k music rite?1!(sarcasm)

I totally agree, simple plan is ruining all the true punk bands out there. It's a known fact that it's impossible for the real punk bands to have any kind of success while people are buying simple plan albums. The music industry isn't big enough to have people like different kinds of music, so if bands like simple plan are popular, it prevents everyone else from listening to the good music. People should never just be able to listen to what they want, because if they want to listen to simple plan, then it ruins punk's image, and every good punk fan should be really concerned about bands like simple plan and good charlotte ruining our hard core image. DAMN YOU SIMPLE PLAN!! DAMN YOU!!!!

jibber 11-12-2004 04:03 PM

disclaimer: In the event that you are unable to recognize obvious cases of sarcasm, it should be noted that the above post is not to be taken literally. It is a tactic used to poke fun at a certain mindset by exagerating the viewpoints in order to bring to light the illogical reasoning behind them. If you were too stupid to figure that out before reading this disclaimer, immediately go to the nearest construction site, find a large, blunt object (preferably a brick), and hit yourself over the head repeatedly.

Thrice 11-12-2004 06:47 PM

i like the little time gap in between there, because i read that earlier, and i was like wtf is she talking about.

That has to be the single worst thing I've read in this thread. Someone go tell the Clash they weren't punk because millions of people bought their albums.

Dudette, surely the good punk fan is more concerned that his hair isn't dyed the right colour and that his or her trousers don't contain enough rips?

ConnradCKY32 11-12-2004 10:16 PM

I own this thread

Invisible Spider 11-13-2004 01:40 AM

Simple Plan arn't the only ones that everyone think are punk, like MTV and music shows like that, i will use evidence i heard from Channel V, an Australian music show, "Coming up next is some harcore-punk, Good Charlotte" its just not right :banghead:

All_Nite_Dinah 11-13-2004 09:51 AM

The only thing I really see them ruining is music message boards across the nation. Is it possible for music message board to go 3 weeks without one of these dumb threads anymore?

Send More Paramedics 11-13-2004 10:19 AM

maybe the fact that they are getting that much negative attention should tell you something, because you sell a lot of records doesn't mean you're any good, and just because you wear torn plaid pants and have a blue mohawk doesn't mean you are a punk. It's about heart and having conviction in your beliefs, that because something is the way it is, or is the accepted mainstream doesn't necessarily make it right.

In my humble opinion, Simple Plan is like so many others, a boy-band with guitars

oh for f*ck's sake I put a disclaimer and everything after that post....

god_save_the_pistols 11-16-2004 04:05 AM

ok, i'll try agaun

i think you guys might have missed the point. ok, i was in a furious rage. but as hard to see as it may have been, i am actually annoyed because so many people i know have started liking simple plan and good charlotte and suddenly they go from these guys that love eminem and wateva that other in-rap is or christina/britney fans to "hardcore punks" start wearing black and everything and gelling there hair one side and claiming that the stuff they used to like sucks, and telling people "you gotta get into real punk like simple plan" i know this will probably just earn me another array of crazy internet people trying to prove me wrong, but thats a risk im willing to take. well i dunno what u'll think of this but do with it what u want u bastards.

god_save_the_pistols 11-16-2004 04:05 AM

i cant spell again

jibber 11-16-2004 05:17 PM

^ meh, the way I see it, they're not doing anything to you, they're behavior isnt affecting you in any way, so I just don't see why people would have a problem with it.

emokid 11-17-2004 09:44 PM

simple plan is just mall-punk. nothing wrong with that if you admit to it.

god_save_the_pistols 11-18-2004 03:58 AM

ok! who cares no 1 seems to see it the way i do. so im gonna forget it, u guys keep stickin up 4 the teeny boppers out there. they need sum1!
