Default So Jim Lyndberg left Pennywise

There lead singer of almost 20 has left the band, citing that it was time to move on. I got to see them at Starland this year, and am really happy I got too.

What do you think this means for the band, and who do you think will become the full time lead singer, or will they just break up all together?

Pennywise is on my long list of punk bands I gave a fair listen to, but never got interested in.

If they're like all other punk bands, they'll find a new singer and continue on, but all the fans will deny their existence proclaiming "I only listen to REAL Pennywise, and not this poser crap with the new lead singer" so they look cool, but will secretly continue to listen and download their records.

Well, that's mildly surprising. I used to like Pennywise a fair bit, but not so much anymore. Jim was a pretty good singer.

Well, there music was never really different from album to album, but they were just a cool band. Jim had been lead singer for almost 20 years, and they have a new touring vocalist. I haven't heard him yet, but if the new lead singer is good, I'll give it a fair listen. It won't be the same without Jim, but the other 3 musicians are pretty damn talented.

Wow, really? Jim left the band? That's pretty crazy. I know I feel this way about a lot of bands but, his voice is distinct and a good way to identify the band. I hope the rest of the band doesn't try to continue with the band. They are past their prime and it's time to try something else. I gave up on them several albums back because it was nothing but the same every time. But their earlier stuff is great. I wouldn't mind hearing Jim start up another project, something a little different. Kind of like Joey from Lagwagon did with Bad Astronaut. Something creative.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
