Old punk. For some reason, bands seem to be getting more and more simple and not as unique and interesting as time goes on..

I think this thread would have made more sense if Green Day were compared to say, The Clash, Ramones, Buzz****s, or The Damned, bands that actually had a poppunk sound. But the problem is these "old" bands get too much credit, simply because they were from a different era. But, in terms of simplicity, bands like The Clash and The Ramones were no more talented than Green Day, with the exception that Joe Strummer and Joey Ramone set the standard for a lot of these guys. Personally I have no prob with any of the groups mentioned. They are all equally catchy, well known, and liked.

^did you get banned or something? I saw it said 'account disabled'.

I like both I guess, but when I think of newer punk bands I don't think of greenday...I think of bands that have been started fairly recently if that's what you mean.

I don`t really see how a band could be punk now.
I was always under the impression punk was a movement against the mainstream , Punk has been mainstream now for 25-30 years so therefore any band who calls themselves punk cannot be punk.
