Default Does punk really exist anymore?

I mean really? All the people I see today calling themselves "punk" listen to ****ty music like Bullet for my Valentine...now, I can understand if you are a hardcore fan of the Sex Pistols, Ramones etc, but in my opinion the true punk scene is dead...the whole essence of it has been washed up, and beaten to something not even recognizable...now, if I am wrong, please tell me, because I am not really into the whole punk thing so if I made any inaccuracies please just tell me

There are MANY good punk bands today, you just have to dig a little.

But are they really punk? Do they have the mentality and attitude? Do they have the basic elements of punk?

This just gets to be more like a bad episode of the gong show every day. Check out MB's 2005-2006 archives to see how played out this discussion was when it was actually relevant, if it ever was.
