Anyone can dress like a rebel, do lots of drugs, and throw their life away. It doesn't require any special talents. For some reason, people feel the need to idolize these people.

But then again, what is cooler than murder, heroin, and terrible bass playing?

Nothing. :)

Seriously, i think Sid was a cool guy, you know, despite the whole sucking at bass and murdering his girlfriend thing. I like his version of My Way, his singing on that song is hilarious, it reminds me of the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz.

But that aside, he wasnt a serious musician, sure hes the kind of guy you would have a couple of brews with and have a ass kicking time, but thats it, he was just a guy in the band who got to pretend he was a musician for a little while. The fact that he is one of the most popular bassists of all time is quite sad really.
