Difficult one. I always recall reading Kurt said he wrote "Smells Like Teen Spirit" trying to emulate The Pixies.
I love both but Nirvana is something almost ethereal to me.
Voted for them.

Time and mystique have been very kind to Nirvana but that can’t change the fact that The Pixies made much better music.

the first song i listened to was.. "Is She weird" gives off a nirvana feel big time. ill check back later

I'm not sure if it's that simple, at least for me. Aside from the noisy hits, Nirvana was pretty creative too. I'm gonna agree it's not as diverse and melodically rich as Pixies used to be, but...
