I'm going to have to go with either The Pop Group or Wire...

I just realized all of the post-punk bands I listen to are English... unless you count No Wave bands and Television.

I think Marquee Moon is proto, not post.

Having said that, I think sub-genres are pretty dumb and arbitrary for the most part.

They have always been in the grey area for me in terms of genre-labeling. I just go with "art punk" and avoid all the trouble.

I agree. Although, I don't really consider post-punk to be a sub-genre.
