I watch We Jam Econo whenever I need to feel inspired. I will meet Mike Watt one day and thank him for making me realize how amazing a bass can sound. I think he still lives down in San Pedro, not too far... one of these days...

And yeah,

I completely agree with Bob about Ramones vs Sex Pistols. The Ramones were unpretentious and fun. The Sex Pistols just wanted to scare people and take their money. Johnny was total bummer though. "God bless America and God bless George Bush." CRINGE.

Edit: I'll keep this bit brief. On topic: I loved this movie. R-A-M-O-N-E-S!

in fairness Sex Pistols released one album....and it's a good one for the most part....Ramones released several albums....most of which are great albums

the whole Sex Pistols "attitude" may have started of genuine but then just became a marketing tool just like everything having to do with that band

i don't think Ramones ever wanted to be poster boys for punk rock....they were just four dorks from Queens who wanted to play rock n roll....stripped down and fast

Sex Pistols seemed to love being the poster boys for all that is punk....at least till they realized that they were being had just as much...if not more than anyone

anyways End of the Century is a damn fine documentary

Filth and the Fury is a good documentary

We Jam Econo is a phenomenal documentary...although i must admit that towards the end....when Mike Watt is driving around LA pointing out infamous spots and talking about D Boons death.....i start to loose it
I guess I just want to be entertained sometimes. And if the sex pistols were all a big fabrication then I think Malcolm McLaren deserves some credit for keeping me entertained by all the fuss about anarchy and spitting Into the audience.

Malcolm was the worst kind of Svengali, not to mention a total perv. He actively tried convincing the girl in Bow Wow Wow that letting her bandmates take her virginity would make her a better singer.
