^ Here's someone complaining that Choking Victim get too much attention, and motivated by this game -
http://www.musicbanter.com/games-lis...litz-game.html - I have to ask to what extent that is true twelve years later.

How has time treated the reputation, or for that matter, the members of Choking Victim!?

rubber soul 02-06-2018 05:00 AM

I have a question. Who's Choking Victim?

Lisnaholic 02-06-2018 05:07 AM

HaHa! I hope you're not asking me that question! I suppose at least they've had their 15 mins of fame a la Warhol. Let's see if they've achieved anything longer lasting....

Mondo Bungle 02-07-2018 06:08 PM

they more or less created a genre

Maajo 02-09-2018 01:23 AM

I have never heard of this band lol.

It’s a toss-up which one of these statements expresses more ignorance.

Choking Victim and Leftover Crack were the darlings of every ska crust punk wannabe who missed the boat. It’s almost impossible to find music more formulaic and generic or overrated by horribly ignorant fans.

**** off, both rule.

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 03:38 AM

Are they in anyway original?

**** if I know. Who cares? Ska punk is **** anyway.

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 10:32 AM

Fine.

I’m saying Mondo’s comment is stupid for saying they more or less created a genre

and Maajo ought to at least know who they are

I like a lot of formulaic and generic music. You don’t have to look past my love affair with ambient to find the proof.

But...I do not pretend music is revolutionary when it’s not.

You like these bands then cool but they are what they are.

What's ignorant is expecting someone to have heard a relatively obscure band, but since you're talking **** about them, chances are they're at least decent and I should check 'em out.

I like these bands. I don't think they're revolutionary, but I do think the way the combine genres is fairly unique. If you know of other, similar bands, I'd be curious to hear them, especially if they're better.

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 08:03 PM

You already know them: MDC, Operation Ivy, Reagan Youth, Subhumans

Whoever

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 08:06 PM

As well as any oi band

While I can certainly hear the influence of those bands on Leftover Crack and Choking Victim, I feel like the scope of what LC and CV were doing was much broader than all of them.

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 10:11 PM

ok

I don’t

Even with Reagan Youth? Really?

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 10:47 PM

Reagan Youth covers the cheap ass looking album covers aspect.

Which band from your list covers the metal aspect?

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 11:49 PM

MDC or whoever

False.

OccultHawk 02-09-2018 11:59 PM

Die Kreuzen or whoever

OccultHawk 02-10-2018 12:02 AM

Chaos UK

Extreme Noise Terror

Napalm Death

Every punk band that had a metal phase (all of them)

Janszoon 02-10-2018 06:42 AM

Now you're just being silly.

OccultHawk 02-10-2018 07:16 AM

Not really

I don’t think they offer anything that hasn’t been done a million times a million times better

Janszoon 02-10-2018 07:30 AM

Tell me about The Clash's metal phase.
