i hate punk!! you can defend them all you want but that doesn't change a bit of why i hate punk rock!! or any punk!! i love alternative, i love sensible songs from the alternative side of music, but punk, is a different story! i hate it!

LoathsomePete 03-22-2012 12:05 PM

Why?

Nobody can refute this. Solid, deductive reasoning.

bob. 03-22-2012 12:43 PM

yep....i'm sold....gonna burn 3/4 of my record collection right now! :thumb:

Janszoon 03-22-2012 12:46 PM

I'm imagining "sensible songs" to be sort of like sensible shoes here, minus the health benefits.

bob. 03-22-2012 02:34 PM

yeah maybe you guys are right....i mean Green Day did create punk and all that....i guess they do kind of suck.....so yeah i guess all punk sucks if Green day created it

right on.....some real deductive reasoning there chaps!

jayshreddz 03-22-2012 02:38 PM

somebody sucks if people are letting green day represent punk. but i heard rancid a few times and that is somehow even worse than green day.

You are making a mockery of everything that is LIFE to me. I hope Green Day never sells out man that would suck.

jayshreddz 03-22-2012 02:46 PM

i'm pretty sure they did. i mean, i'd have more respect for them if they stayed like they were in the dookie days, but still, i can only take so much of that as it is.

bob. 03-22-2012 02:50 PM

this just gets better and better

jayshreddz 03-22-2012 02:51 PM

Is it true that Eddie Vedder records all of his vocals while taking a ****? How does he get such a great sound in a bathroom? Call me curious.

i guess he knows the guys who did the sound for punk vocalists recording all of their vocals while getting mauled by a gang of chainsaws. how did they edit out the chainsaws?

Yeah probably. good guess. All of this has really turned me around on punk. Gonna sell my tix to the punk rock picnic now and buy the Pearl Jam discography. Good looking out.

jayshreddz 03-22-2012 03:27 PM

hey bud, i don't care what you listen to. i was just agreeing with the thread and supporting my own opinion that punk sucks. i didn't require you to realize your error. do that on your own time. ;)

yeah that was not to bad.....actually they were simply the first name that popped in my head in association with Sum 41......

and honestly being from Reno the name GOB belongs in one place only...

They are a lot of fun live. He literally gets right up in your face and makes people uncomfortable. I love those guys.

I can't even begin to imagine what music would be like now or over the past thirty years if it wasn't for punk. I can't even imagine what the world would be like now if it wasn't for punk. The truth is most people's favourite bands were influenced by punk in some way or other no matter much you hate it.

Nice. I quite like this tune better than the other clip I linked, especially the description on youtube about them not being that pussy pop punk band from Canada (they're still way better than Sum41 haha).

100% spot on. I don't think anything else really needs to be said on the matter though I also believe with some of the comments there will still be some people who just refuse to get it.

well, something has to be said for punk spawning an atrocity like Blink 182

slatesphanboi 03-24-2012 07:39 AM

Avril Lavigne shall save Punk! :finger:

What would that 'something' actually be? You ever actually listen to their early stuff or just whatever MTV fed you?

It might not be the pinnacle of punk rock but that hardly sounds like an atrocity.

Avril Lavinge on the other hand, her first single sounded like a slightly more rocking version of Wilson Phillips' big hit. It's the same vocal melody, I can't hear the chorus to Complicated without having my brain mash in the 2nd half to Hold On.

ableeblooblaabloobleebloobla bleh Complicated....
...and you HOOoooollld On for one more day.

Avril, never punk. Blink 182, never that good (especially not the later years), but definitely in line with most other skater pop/punk band back in the day.
