But if they don't listen to punk music or wear punky clothing, do ther really fit into the punk subculture? I think punks need music, clothing and punky attitude combined.

For me individuality and personal choice are key aspects to the whole Punk subculture, by wearing the clothing that society associates with "punk" or that other "punks" associate with being punk for the sake of attempting to look punk, you're defeating the whole idea. If you're wearing it because you want to then that's fine...just the same as if you don't want to have anything to do with "punk fashion."

Depends what you mean. Commercial or anarchist?

I mean, it can just be about the attitude, or the image of a punk.

Personally I think it has a lot to do with rebelliousness.

A punk in 2012 is someone who's totally deluded that a dead scene still exists.

Because when the punk thing did happen you had all these bands coming out saying 'Wow I wish music was like it was 35 years ago'. That's totally punk rock.

Yeah you pull that quote out every time there is a discussion about Punk music. Let's put it into perspective though you talking about a guy who danced the Charlseton, was a groovy writer for Beatniks commenting about underground music scene in his retirement years. But seriously when did he say that - before or after the year Punk broke?

I think I've quoted it one other time, that's hardly "every time there is a discussion about Punk music" (and Burroughs was bit young to be dancing the Charleston by the way). I believe it was a comment he made in the 70s or 80s with regards to the style of music, but honestly, who gives a shit? It's just a humorous remark.
