I'd rather be sleeping is one of my favorite tracks by DRI....as a whole I honestly don't think any DRI album is nearly as good or important as Age of Quarrel...like what Cro-Mags did for hardcore or not...you cannot deny the fact that this album changed things...that and cro-mags were one of the first openly vegan and hare krishna hardcore bands.....

I will say that in my opinion DRI has a much stronger....eh "staying" power.....or Dri stayed solid and good with their later releases whereas cro-mags went basically to **** after their first....although I do enjoy the album alpha omega

I gree with Bob on the staying power, but for me it depends on what DRI album you through up there. Age of Quarrell is just a better and more notable album.

I basically agree with everything bob and William just said. But difficult as it is, I think the albums in these contests should be pit against each other without any consideration of the bands' overall outputs. Just the two albums in a vacuum.

I suppose DRI may have had a better chance with "Crossover" but I'm kind of sick of that album. And after that DRI seemed to cross the road completely over to the metal side. Anyway, yeah, I think "The Age of Quarrel" is the better album. I did, however, expect that somebody out there would choose "Dealing with it!" because it's more 'fun'.. or something like that.

I think I will start making it a rule that spam votes are exempt. Especially ones that do not even bother to keep track of the score when they post.

I do not expect people to write a novel here, but you can at least give a reason for why you choose them.

So if you are too lazy to even write a couple sentences, and expect someone else to come along and count your vote for you... your vote shall be disregarded.

I know I am probably setting myself up for failure there, with the minimal voting already... but come on.

Fair comment, I didn't mean that to come out the way it sounded, in hindsight it looks like I was being a bit dickish so, sorry about that. I'll have a think on the albums.

As for this poll, I guess i'll try and prevent a landslide...I'll go with Dealing with it! In part "because it's more fun"....

Always thought that was a pretty classic song. There's not much honestly to split the two, Brecht wasn't a brilliant vocalist but John Jospeh annoys me too. Probably more. He never seemed to take control of the songs, just had a raspy, echo-y moan in the back ground. Or maybe he doesn't, but that's how it always sounded to me. As a result, the whole album kinda annoyed me.

We will say

Cro-Mags - 4
D.R.I. - 1

I will let the last vote fly this time, because I implemented this rule after that post. So this time I will count that vote. But from this point on if all you can reply with is the name of the band you cast your vote for, it will be ignored.

My reason for this is not to be rude, it is... if I get an idea of why a certain album is being voted for, it is easier to get an idea of a persons interests, which greatly helps when trying to think up a battle. I can look at the vote and if it says why they choose that certain album or band, I can go "okay, they like that... they will love this album!" and it is easier to pick something that I know will appeal to people.

If all you say is one word it doesn't tell me anything. As said, I do not expect people to feel they are writing an essay on an album, but a paragraph explaining why you made your choice would help greatly in making it easier to think of ideas.

I have been sitting on a few albums, like for example I wanna do one with NoMeansNo and their album "Wrong", which is one of my favorite albums ever. But I have not thought of something that would give it a fair run. I try to think of a couple albums that show enough similarities, but also have something of their own that makes it their own. That is my biggest obstacle when thinking of great battles. Give people a challenge... I know I could pick something random with slight similarities, but then I am thinking it will just be a run away, and if I think I know off the bat it will be a given to one, I think it is not worthy of a battle cause it is one sided.

I also take no offense to your comment, I wasn't trying to be rude either... trust me, I am no stranger to comments that come out as rude but are not meant as such, haha.

But yeah, the idea of this thread is to have my ideas, but also have input from others in the meantime. For reasons I stated above, I could spend a week fighting myself on battles, and if no one else is stepping up in the meantime, it just goes unused and nothing comes of it... and the thread is just dead weight.

Well can't go wrong with crossover thrash, call me old school, but the bands seem to do more for me than Sunny Day Real Estate.

So anyways I guess we have a new dual.

I'm more of a fan of Life of Dreams, but I think the Crumbsuckers still had more going on than Ludichrist, so...Beast on my Back
