gonna try a bit of catch up

52. M.D.C. (hardcore punk) Austin TX era 1981-present

MDC started off as Stains back in 1979 in Austin TX....they change their name with every album but it is always an initial ism of MDC (ie Millions of dead Cops, Millions of Dead Children).....they moved to the bay Area in the early 80....broke up in the mid 90s and were reformed by singer Dave Dictor in 2000....they now are out of Portland OR

furious and fast songs with very far left lyrics concentrating of equal rights for both race and sexual orientation, vegetarianism, and the state of American society

they released several albums over the years but in personal opinion nothing has ever or will ever be as good as their amazing 1982 debut Millions Of Dead Cops....an absolute MUST for any collection

I Hate Work

Dead Cops/America's So Straight

I Remember

51. D.I. (hardcore punk, skate punk) Fullerton CA 1982-present

DI formed out of the ashes of the original line up of Social Distortion (pre Mommy's Little Monster) when drummer Casey Royer took over vocals and recruited Rikk Agnew (Christian Death, Adolescents) and are probably best remembered for their performance in the punk exploitation film "Suburbia"

i feel that these guys get ignored on lists like these but should be mentioned if anything for their influence on at least 90% of the bands that came out in the late 80s and 90s

also i think that their first two albums and first ep are absolute classic

O.C. Life

^this one is for Fred

Spiritual Law

Guns

^classic

Uncontrollable Urge (Devo)

^for Alan

the first of many vegan starlight edge bands on my list

a disclaimer
i am not nor have i ever been involved in the straight edge "movement"...matter of fact i've struggled with drug addiction for over 15 years, i smoke and i drink daily....i am a vegetarian and spent many years maintaining a vegan diet but i keep this to myself and consider it a personal moral choice....i am also in no way shape or form a whore or a slut

50. Earth Crisis (hardcore, metalcore*) Syracuse, NY 1989-present

love them or hate them....i feel earth crisis cannot be ignored and were major players in the evolution of hardcore that happened in the 90s

Earth Crisis formed in 1989 in Syracuse...releasing their first EP in 92....these guys are well known for their violent and militant stance on straight edge morals, veganism, and other social issues which they feel plaque the human race....they were also targeted for a short time as turning straight edge into a "gang" and promoting violence against opposition...something they deny although there are certainly lyrics about killing meat eaters and beating drug addicts

i remember when they broke up in 2001 and played their last show at Hellfest on their website they had a poll that said something along the lines of "what Earth Crisis song do you most want to break peoples faces when you hear it"....something like that

i don't think they started the whole "chug chug" sound....but they made it what it is today....personally i think their music is phenomenal....and their lyrics are so over the top that they are laughable

i'd like to point out that their last album before breaking up in 2001 was an album of covers which included the Rolling Stone, Led Zeppelin, Cream and Black Sabbath

still i love these guys

Firestorm

^this song won that stupid question i mentioned

Wrath Of Sanity

^by far the best song about vivisection since Skinny Puppy's Texture

Total War

^returning with an absolute classic

*i fucking hate this term but i suppose it fits

I just finished revamping my list, so I hope I haven't cut into your thread to much. It's probably 30 bands that should have been on William's list now.
