I think they both were pretty samey and lacked variety but excelled in what they did. The thing that makes the Ramones stand out for me was their lack of pretense. They just wanted to have some kicks. The Sex Pistols... they got caught up with this whole bogus pseudo-ideology crap and yeah, they definitely had a lot to genuinely rebel against but it just never seemed to me like they meant it. Sincerity > Intrigue, for me anyways.

The Sex Pistols were by far the more "interesting" story. To be fair though the sex pistols only got the idea from Mclaren ripping off the ramones.

The Sex Pistols trump The Ramones with their single Rock the Casbah.

The two bands certainly do clash.

Well said man i agree..

The sex pistols weren't bad but they had a self destructive attitude that was gonna inevitably bring them down, The Ramones to their credit never played in to that attitude and that's why they had a better career.

I gotta say though the Sid & Nancy movie was pretty cool.

Gotta go with the Sex Pistols. Due in large part to this wildly entertaining film...

And also because any rock band ballsy enough to refer to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a "piss stain" (after being inducted and refusing to attend the induction ceremony) is all right with me.
