Default Melodic Hardcore?

you know, bands like Kid Dynamite, Dag Nasty, Stretch Arm Strong, Ignite, Rise Against, H20, Good Riddance, A Wilhelm Scream, 7 Seconds and Comeback Kid? Hardcore Punk with a little more melody?

Hardcore punk songwriting is the anithesis of melodic songwriting. Most of those guys couldnt write a tune to save their life.

I used to love this stuff. I like Bad Religion a lot, Rise Against are OK, and H20 are cool. Not into the other bands that much though, although I do like Strike Anywhere who you didn't mention.

I wouldn't consider Bad Religion Hardcore punk at all.

Have you ever heard Into the Unknown by Bad Religion?
It's hard to describe them as hardcore after hearing that.

Default yeah

i should have included strike anywhere. and bad religion's early stuff was kinda hardcore, and they were part of the L.A. scene, along with black Flag and the circle jerks. i really like all their stuff. good songwriters.

I would not call Sick Of It All melodic hardcore. Listen to Ignite, Dag Nasty and Ambitions.

Listen to Lifetime for amazing pop punk/hardcore.

Closer Than Kin are sort of on the less melodic side of melodic hardcore.
