in my opinion they're punk, i think that they do have some hardcore influences occassionally, but punk is what i would go with.

^Hardcore is punk. That's how it started atleast. Most hardcore bands now have punk influences. If they don't then they fall under some other core genre. And, Black Flag was one of the early hardcore bands.

^ i know what hardcore is, and im just saying that they're two seperate genres and that black flag has at one stage been influenced by both.

I'm extremely curious what hardcore bands influenced Black Flag?

Because to me Black Flag was one of the first hardcore bands.

It was meant to be a vague question. You're suppose to read between the lines. If Black Flag wasn't one of the first hardcore bands then tell me who is. Because I think you're wrong unless you can prove you're right.

The mob & BadBrains i know were around the same time as Black Flag when they first started out but i wouldnt class early Black Flag stuff as moving into the hardcore genre really anyway. the thing is bands can be influenced by bands of the same genre and if they are from the same area as they are, famous or not i dont know what bands influenced Black Flag because unfortunatly i dont have their number to give them a ring and ask them.
