Minor Threat kick ass.All there albums are pretty frickin good and Ian Mackaye is like a god at band starting of goodness..I like them quite a bit and yeah we should all listen to them and like them cause they rule. They started in DC and were on their on dischord records(which is a kick ass label).Ian and Jeff started in the teen idles. There first gig was opening for bad brains i think..

I read somewhere that Minor Threat only recorded about 47 minutes of material but I have never counted it. It is surprising how legendary they became with such a relatively small amount of material, though it was really rather good and did spawn a whole youth movement.

pmorr 08-19-2005 06:43 PM

Hey lets just recommend the discogrophy, because all the songs recomended are on it!

tdoc210 08-19-2005 07:36 PM

Headbanging is for Metal Heads. Either do the windmill or pick up quarters, or whatever which way you want to do your thang in the mosh pit, but please leave the headbanging to the Metal Heads.

The Batlord 03-31-2018 10:36 AM

I'm sure there was a lot of 2-stepping and kung fu fighting at Minor Threat shows.

Minor Threat sucks and so does this poorly written wikipedia entry of a thread. Fugazi >>>>

Rocco_81 09-11-2018 09:36 AM

Minor Threat - what legends they are. Not only 10/10 for raw aggression and just kick you in the face hardcore catchy riffs, but they started a complete movement pretty much on accident.

When asked about being the godfather of SE / Straight Edge , He stated that he never once could have dreamed that kids around the world would embrace his personal choices and song lyrics as a way of life and never intended that in the first place.

Abstaining from everything chemical and even sex, was simply a way for him to be different than the other guys "being different" and rebelling by popping pills and slamming beers at shows. It also helped that none of them were old enough to drink in the bars they played in, but he also really did feel outside of the rest of the kids in DC at that time.

To this day Dischord shows are only $5 and are always all ages.

The Batlord 09-11-2018 09:42 AM

Doesn't Ian MacKaye think straight edge kids are dumb?

Irl I wouldn’t associate with someone who thought Fugazi...

I’m not even going to say it

Mondo Bungle 09-18-2018 04:10 PM

I thought Fugazi

Mondo Bungle 09-18-2018 05:11 PM

but you're just a straight pleb if you take them over Minor Threat

LOL sorry I'm not into music targeted at thirteen year olds.

OccultHawk 09-19-2018 09:32 PM

13 year olds like great music.

OccultHawk 09-19-2018 11:14 PM

Smashing Pumpkins are great

The Batlord 09-19-2018 11:20 PM

**** you both.

The Batlord 09-19-2018 11:40 PM

No they were just as ****. I'd probably be just as willing to listen to a Bush album were I to ever listen to one.

OccultHawk 09-20-2018 12:07 AM

Glycerine is a good song

windsock 09-20-2018 02:10 PM

I can find numerous golf-ball-throat bands I put on a higher pedestal than Smashing Pumpkins.

The Batlord 09-20-2018 02:14 PM

Stone Temple Pilots >>>> Smashing Pumpkins

I get why people don't like them but they're still way better at their derivative music than Smashing Pumpkins are with theirs.

windsock 09-20-2018 04:17 PM

Purple is better than any SP album imo

Smashing Pumpkins have the best guitar in alt rock behind Sonic Youth and better drums

+2, agreed. I like both bands, but I think STP are better and a hell of a lot more consistent.

The Batlord 09-20-2018 05:27 PM

And Tiny Music from the Vatican Gift Shop is legit underrated album.

Frownland 09-20-2018 05:35 PM
