De La Soul?

Im a massive De la soul fan..and even there weakest album is miles better than most other hip hop albums
I would rank there albums

3 feet high & rising
stakes is high
buhloone mindstate
Grind date
de la soul is dead
Bionix

I love "3 Feet High", the first De La Soul album... It was pretty much a revolutionary album when it came out...

Love it when an artist is so far out front, it takes YEARS for the rest of the pack to catch up.

You should check it out. Mostly for the forgotten movement in rap at the time.

Two of the best De La tracks from the Buhloone Mindstate era were not even on it. one is the Foncett Power remix of Breakadawn, the other is Ego Trippin Part 3 'Egorist Mix' (which is basically a completely different track to Ego Trippin.)

another is the track My MindState which was left off the album but included on Prince Paul's 'Gold Dust' compilation of rarities he produced.

I recently checked out The Grind Date. somehow I overlooked this album, it's much better than Mosaic Thump and Bionix, which were like De La Soul goes commercial rap.

If you like DLS you should listen to "A prince among theives" by Prince Paul. PP produced 3 Feet High back in the day.

3 Feet High was one of the first hip-hop classic albums. Eye Know sampled the Steely Dan song Peg.

De La Soul played at my college graduation party (along with the Kinks). De La Soul delivered the goods in their live concert... they had a great back up band and back up singers.
