Their new album just leaked.

I can't believe I couldn't find this thread. Thanks urban.

Initial thoughts- very good... As is typical for The Roots.

Phzed 09-26-2010 03:03 PM

The Roots nowadays suck.

Illadelph Halflife and Things Fall Apart were amazing.

I highly disagree. How I Got Over is probably my favorite Roots record yet. The title track is just phenomenal in my opinion.

I think Illadelph Halflife remains my favorite, but I'm not going to knock the New Roots.
They're still amazing.

I only have Organix ('93) to Rising Down ('08)

I'll give How I Got Over a listen then.

dswood 09-28-2010 09:44 PM

I haven't heard their latest yet, but Game Theory has a permanent place in my car's album rotation. Not quite any kind of Top 5 ranking and yet typically there is only a few albums in my car at a given time, so really, in a sense...

bit of a late response, but I've been listening to The Roots quite a lot lately, specifically their more recent albums (i.e. anything they've done since 2000)
I actually really enjoy their newer stuff, and don't know why I dismissed it, How I Got Over, Game Theory and The Tipping Point are really good, only listened to Rising Down once and wasn't too keen, but I'll probably give it another listen at some point.

Rising Down has some awesome tracks though.

75 Bars and Criminal immediately come to mind but I think there were a few more tracks.

By far the best Nardwuar interview ever. Quest almost cries (with joy, as opposed to laughing so much) because of what he is given/shown.

Excited to hear about the new album CB, totally forgot about it.

Cuthbert 04-18-2014 07:00 PM

Did a search first, cheers for the merge.

There is a single out now but I'm avoiding it.

Edit: No merge, assumed it had been merged. Feel free to merge.

The Roots: ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin | Advance | Pitchfork

Listening now.

Cuthbert 05-15-2014 07:56 AM

The album is underwhelming by the way but I listened on laptop speakers so that might be why.

djchameleon 05-15-2014 08:06 AM

I really liked the single "When The People Cheer" but will listen to this stream later on.
