Of course, it will be hard to beat those albums..

andy 08-17-2006 11:20 AM

Could you say they're alternative rap?

I've heard good things about em

Dizz-E 08-17-2006 11:50 AM

Alternative rap? I'd probably say..Spoken Word..maybe Ghetto Intellect rap..Social Awarness rap..?? lol

Sneer 12-22-2006 12:03 PM

Laces Out Dan! 12-22-2006 02:29 PM

It'll be worth your money..The Roots are great

cardboard adolescent 02-15-2007 08:39 PM

Just an update: Game Theory is probably my favorite rap album to come out in the last ten years. Pure brilliance that gets better with every listen.

You're an idiot. What are you trying to get at?

sleepy jack 02-17-2007 09:34 PM

I don't know but i'm tired of reading him say "ban him" to every other user. Maybe I some banning will get done but it won't be who he expects. >:[

TheUsedToolguy 02-18-2007 12:49 PM

I would agree Tipping Point and Phrenology, I could not get into Things Fall Apart no matter how many listens it took.
Luv that 1 song 'pussy galore'
how true; especially in western society: repressing one of our most primal urges and then selling it back to us; sad but true and genius
just as much genius by the roots for recognizing it and being above it.

Soundgardener 02-18-2007 10:38 PM

I recently noticed the Public Enemy references in one of their songs. I think it was "False Media."

saffy 03-04-2007 03:29 AM

Yup, the newst cd is the best .

TheUsedToolguy 03-04-2007 12:21 PM

Is it the tipping point, or do they hav a newer one?

Laces Out Dan! 03-04-2007 12:23 PM

Game Theory is the newest.

ElephantSack 06-12-2009 01:42 PM

I'm resurrecting this thread, because I haven't gotten a chance to talk about my favorite hip hop artists yet.

So here goes.

My girlfriend introduced me to them back in '05. I went out and bought Do You Want More??? and Phrenology at the same time. I enjoyed them both very much. I didn't get to see them until Bonarroo 2007, and it was ****in' phenomenal. If anybody hasn't witnessed their cover of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War", let me do you favor.

Right? Anyway, I was blown away. And then I saw them about 3 months later at my local House of Blues. And they played "Masters of War" again. I think I scared my girlfriend's friends with how excited I was during the show. I was one of maybe ten people in a crowd of 2,000 who was dancing, but I didn't care. Anybody who can go to a Roots show and not move is a ****in' puppet. I actually bumped into a white guy in a Grateful Dead T-shirt who gave me a dirty look. What a fool.

crazymenrunningback 06-12-2009 02:29 PM

There new record How I got over is coming out on June 23rd lookz good. can't wait

ElephantSack 06-12-2009 02:54 PM

I still haven't heard Rising Down. What's the take?

IamAlejo 06-12-2009 04:12 PM

It's pretty dope. Not their best, but worth a listen definitely.

ElephantSack 06-12-2009 05:05 PM

IamAlejo 06-12-2009 05:22 PM

Yeah, it's just an okay album-- but I mean, it's still The Roots!

music_phantom13 06-15-2009 07:38 AM

I'm excited about hearing How I Got Over, can't wait for that to come out. My favorite album, so far, is Game Theory. Simply love that ****. The Roots have been a favorite hip hop band of my mine for a while now, but I didn't get to see them until last year. They played a free 4/20 concert on the Mall in DC with O.A.R. (acoustic set), Gov't Mule, Umphrey's McGee, and some other people. It rained on us, but it was a sick concert and totally worth it.
