Default Tonight I decided a few things...

During a car ride back from snowboarding my friend and I talked about how 50 Cent is really pop rap, kinda like Nelly.

Then we got on to how The older Rap is better. (I'm not talking about really old stuff like Biggie and 2pac, but thats also good). Stuff that Dre used to put out, and Snoop a while ago...that kinda stuff.

Yeah, most of the old school stuff is much better than this new stuff. However, if you listen to the underground stuff that's being produced nowadays it's just as good as the old stuff. As long as you get away from MTV and listen to the underground then you'll find that hiphop now is still good and evolving. Check the thread I wrote up recommending some underground groups.

50cent isn't a pop rapper, he is a gangster rapper.. Ja Rule is a pop rapper.

Here's a thought; let's stop labeling music and fighting over what genre a certain band is, and start listening to whatever pleases our ears no matter what anyone thinks of it! ;)

He's definitely a gangster when he's out of the studio and he does rap about gangster stuff, but it comes out sort of poppish. I think he has to blame his beats. For example, with PIMP the beat is really not thuggish, but the content is. That's just my opinion, anyway.
