whats the point of a thread when the author answers the title question themselves?

ProggyMan 09-16-2007 04:14 PM

The point is he wanted to get our opinions.

jackhammer 09-16-2007 05:36 PM

Did he? OK both are cráp! Howzat? Seriously I don't like any of them.

Sparky 09-16-2007 05:40 PM

50 cent lost his virginity at age 12 to a 21 year old girl.
*anyone who makes the joke of switching the number around will be banned =/
50 cent> kanye

jackhammer 09-16-2007 05:50 PM

50 cent got his name from paying a ** year old 50 cents to lose his custard when he was **.

Numbers were vetoed by myself.

Sparky 09-16-2007 05:52 PM

this_guy 09-16-2007 06:15 PM

Beasite boys or Public enemy are both better than 50 cent or kanye west.

That's the funny part, he didn't even answer the question himself. He didn't explain why he thought the way he did.

I'm with you Jackhammer, even though I personally don't enjoy rap, I can tell the better stuff from the crap, and they're both crap.

DeVicci 09-18-2007 06:12 PM

My vote will be Interstate 35

when the cars pass over the armor joint of the bridge...
it has a very calming and interesting sound...

TroubleBunch 09-20-2007 02:46 AM

In terms of who's a better rapper, spitting the best flow, however you'd like to phrase it, I couldn't say.

In terms of the whole package (rapping, writing, beats), it's gotta go to Kanye. Take 50's voice out of it, and his songs could be just about any hip-hopper's songs. Kanye's tunes, however, are distinctively his, both in production and writing/lyrical stylings.

p.s. Big fan of the Louis Vutton Don's first two albums (and mixtapes between), but think "Graduation" is a pretty lackluster entry.

holdyoualways 09-20-2007 08:57 PM

they announced wednesday on trl who sold more records in a week
kanye sold close to a million & 50 sold just about 700,000
so...yeah, kind of speaks for itself there i think

TroubleBunch 09-20-2007 09:19 PM

Even money says 50 pusses out and doesn't retire, like he said he would if Kanye outsold him.

djchameleon 09-21-2007 01:42 AM

I'm bored so I guess I'll comment on these two sub-par artists.....

Kanye West is better as far as beats/production goes and the music that he samples. The lyrics that he writes are terrible imo. He either just throws something in just to make it rhyme while screwing up how it sounds grammatically or he'll just throw in some nothingness if he can't come up with something to rhyme.....I believe he did that in a song called drive slow but not sure if that's the one.

50 cent is a better lyricist but I don't like the fact that he needs to make love songs/female songs. He increases the amount of women type songs per album. The beats that he uses all sound too familiar like I've heard them before...especially that track he has with eminem. I swear he uses an old em beat for that track.

I really enjoyed graduation but it seems short and I missed his skits.

50's definitely not retiring. It was an excellent marketing ploy. I wouldn't be surprised if 50 and kanye got together to tour with each other.

Poseidon72 09-21-2007 08:07 AM

But unfortunately someone who doesn't enjoy rap has no leg to stand on when making an opinion about it.

FreshKidd22 09-22-2007 02:39 PM

real

When kanye spits, it's not just about a life where he came from, it's where he's at and where he's gonna go. He's one of the most realest dudes out mainstream right now. It's hip hop, not straight gangsta. Fifty's givin a good effort, but it aint what the people is lookin for right now.:usehead:

Cari Lynn 09-23-2007 08:56 PM

I guess they're the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac of the 2000 generation. Personally, I can think of better rappers lyrically and commercially.

ProggyMan 09-23-2007 11:00 PM

Who's more commercially succesful this decade? Just curious...

I wasn't referring to commercial success, though if I did mis-say that, it's my mistake. I meant that while I find a few of Kanye or 50 Cent's songs appealing, I think that the rap of the 80's and 90's is more original and captivating. I don't see much in the rap that plays on the hip-hop or mainstream/pop radio.

ProggyMan 09-23-2007 11:59 PM

So what did you mean by commercial? Their ad campaign?

Stlfocus421 09-25-2007 09:21 PM

Personally, I feel that 50 cent is a little bit one-dimensional. I think his success is due to the fact that his fan-base is one-dimensional too.

Wayfarer 09-26-2007 12:25 PM

I don't really care for either of them, but Kanye is certainly better in terms of...everything except record sales.

Dwight Mighton 09-26-2007 02:34 PM

I do enjoy Kanye much more than 50 Cent. His latest album was odd at first but then it grew on me.

I've never been a big fan of 50 Cent. Like someone has said he's a bit one-dimensional. Plus the fact that he blatantly lies to make himself look cooler.

The King of New York lives in Connecticut, clearly this makes sense. <_<

MuZiKaL 09-26-2007 05:32 PM

Kayne West, 50 cent had some good stuff, but after listening to it for a while it gets...old. While Kanye West you could listen over and over and it's still good. Plus Kanye's newer songs are better than 50's.

Stronger is one of my favorites.

Dmad416 09-30-2007 12:28 PM

50 cent is a teen idol, kanye is a recording artist. It depends on what you want. If you want to live the gangsta dream, listen to 50 and pretend to know what hes talking about. Kanye is the full package musically, but hes a bit of an *******.

SimCreder 09-30-2007 12:45 PM

50 is the hotter artist for surrrreee

DonnieG 10-01-2007 05:39 PM

I prefer Kanye because his lyrics are less violent than 50 Cent’s.
