Default Name Your Favorite Album

In honor of Jay-z's new release American Gangster I came up with the idea for this thread. Out of Jay-z's entire library of albums which one is your favorite and why? Also list your favorite tracks off said album you don't have to write for each track but that'd be nice. After 4 or 5 days I'll put a different artist for us to discuss the albums of their career. I have to go now so I'll post my favorite Jay-z album later.

I'll do better....here's every release of his ranked in order with my favorite track:

The Blueprint - 5/5
"Heart of the City"

Reasonable Doubt - 5/5
"Can I Live"

The Black Album - 4.5/5
"99 Problems"

In My Lifetime Vol. 1 - 4/5
"Streets is Watching"

Vol. 3 Life and Times of Sean Carter - 3/5
"So Ghetto"

Blueprint 2 - 3/5
"The Watcher 2"

Vol. 2 Hard Knock Life - 3/5
"Hard Knock Life"

Kingdom Come - 3/5
"Lost One"

I'm gonna hold off on American Gangster...I've been listening to it all the time since I got it and am really loving it. I can safely say its a 4/5 and I think it has a chance to move ahead of TBA for my 3rd favorite Jigga album. Right now my jams are "Roc Boys" "Blue Magic" and "American Dreamin"

I was hoping this was a Hip Hop best album thread, not just dedicated to jay-z who i'm not terribly au fait with. What I have heard I don't like.

yes I'd recommend it but if you didn't like kingdom come you aren't going to like american gangster too much.

When Jay came back with Kingdom Come....you can tell he matured and most of his beats were made through the use of live instruments and a band.

The problem with that is that his main listener base didn't mature....they wanted to hear some old Jay. The stuff that made him popular in the first place. I like the new direction he is heading in.

I used to say Reasonable Doubt was my favorite Jay-Z album....but recently I've been listening to Kingdom Come more and It is easily my favorite of his now. It has much more musical content to it as far as instrumentation which I love. American Gangster is a close second because it follows the same vein as Kingdom Come.

My favorite tracks off of Kingdom Come are Anything, Trouble, Dig A Hole, Minority Report and Beach Chair.

I give you permission to take my idea and apply it to any of the other forums I was thinking about doing it in two different genres but I won't have the time to keep up with them both......So you can do a Rock one or whichever genre you want or can easily discuss.
