The Real Best Wu-Tang Rapper Thread

Because there is no reason we can't list all. I think I'm going with GZA but its close between him, Method Man and Ghostface. I don't know only my top 5 is really certain but the top 3 are really close Anyway in order of preference:

1. GZA
2. Ghostface
3. Method Man
4. Inspectah Deck
5. RZA
6. Raekwon
7. ODB
8. Masta Killa
9. U-God

I think its really hard, I'm not satisfied with my list. =[

simplephysics 05-19-2008 07:10 PM

I'm changing my answer from Ghostface to ODB.

sweet_nothing 05-19-2008 07:50 PM

You do know that Cappadonna isn't actually a member of the Wu, right?

And my vote goes to the RZA.

Yeah, but on Wu-Tang Forever, he's like a proverbial 10th member.

Piss Me Off 05-21-2008 11:07 AM

ODB still, although it is a tough one between Ghostface.

Meph1986 05-21-2008 01:44 PM

Although I would say GZA is the best lyricist, I voted for Ghostface since he's not only a great lyricist, but the most consistent out of all of the Wu. Not to mention that GZA's delivery lately sounds lazy.

15Steps 05-21-2008 09:39 PM

method man

Proverbial being the key word.

NoseClams 05-26-2008 12:05 AM

why doesnt anyone like u-god? since the death of ODB and the new guy joined up, he is no longer the worst rapper in the group.

Well, I'd say that you're the one making it a big deal, what with the name calling and the profanities and such. Grow up.

And oh yes, using "profanity" is so immature. Get a ****ing grip.

It appears that I was mistaken on the name calling, and where did I ever say using prafanities was immature? Also, why are you quoting "profanity" for? I said "profanities" not "profanity." And you are being immature. Think about it, I was having a discussion with another member when you say: "FFS. Is it that big a deal? Oh noez, some guy on the internet put a tenth member on his list when there's technically only nine! Shut the **** up." Was I talking to you? No. Were you in the conversation at all? No. Did you insult me when I wasn't directing anything to you at all? Yes. That is immature and you need to grow up.

ali kat 06-08-2008 10:32 AM

ODB for me! Method next

ayodcarr 06-24-2008 08:55 AM

Shame on you when you stepped through to
The Ol Dirty Bastard straight from the Brooklyn Zoo

Son of JayJamJah 06-29-2008 07:31 PM

Meth

lucifer_sam 07-15-2008 03:38 PM

I haven't heard nearly enough solo Wu-Tang projects but I found that I enjoyed Liquid Swords more than anything else. Then perhaps Ghostface. So I suppose I enjoy GZA the best, but I give a lot of credit to RZA for producing and leading Wu-Tang. Genuine pioneer of rap, for sure.

simplephysics 07-15-2008 03:48 PM

Return to the 36 Chambers:The Dirty Version is just win. Ol' Dirty Bastard is so much fun...Shimmy Shimmy Ya is a classic! It's definitely my favorite solo album from any Wu member.

Molecules 07-15-2008 04:59 PM

Rae's my fave for wordplay, the rest of the Gods all bring something to table and I have a soft spot for RZA buuut... Dirt McGurt it is, just for that first album. Too much post-Ironman Ghostface just gets annoying.

'Rhymes is rugged like burnt buildings in Harlem,
the Ol Dirty Bastard from the temple of Shaolin,
dirty to the grain like drops of acid rain...'

Vexed 07-19-2008 09:08 AM

Probably Rae. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is my favourite Wu-Tang solo album, but damn GZA is close with Liquid Swords. Never really been as big on Ghostface as most people seem to be.

And am I the only one who thinks U-God is really underrated? Ok, his solo albums haven't all been that great but damn he sounds awesome with the Clan.

TROY148 07-27-2008 09:34 PM

In order of my favorite it's:
Inspectah Deck (his opener on Guillotine is fire)
Ghostface
GZA
and then the rest

SD4LIFE 07-28-2008 01:01 PM

Gotta say Meth...

He mite not be the most lyrical, but I like his style, and hes funny as ****....

Friday 08-06-2008 04:39 AM

"I'll be that whisky in ya' liver"

GZA, because he really is the genius.

he's a swarm member though, so he should count.
I'm goin' with Mr. McGirt.

Piss Me Off 08-06-2008 03:49 PM

I voted for Dirty Bastard but the more i listen to Liquid Swords the more i think i should have voted for the GZA, it's an album that's hard not to love.

4th Chamber on that album is probably my favourite. The way GZA and RZA bounce off each other is something special.

(sin)TAX 09-09-2008 07:49 PM

1. GZA
2. Ghostface
3. Meth
4. Raekwon
5. RZA (lyrics save him)
6. ODB
7. Masta Killa
8. U-God

WU-TANG FOREVER!

(sin)TAX 09-09-2008 07:52 PM

**** Deck is above RZA

Fruitonica 09-10-2008 12:49 AM

I'd say Ghostface has the most consistently excellent solo albums.

FireInCairo 09-10-2008 03:55 AM

ghost face is amazing
but i have a soft spot for ODB
aawww i love them both

IamAlejo 09-03-2009 03:36 PM

1. Meth
2. Rae
3. GZA

Then everyone else. Inspectah not even listed by one person haha... him opening on Triumph is arguably my favorite verse from a Wu song.

I think a few people mentioned Inspectah Deck (but I just read this thread recently and my short term memory sucks). Anyway, you just hit my own top 3 in order - with Deck as 4th. Then ODB, then Ghostface.

jacklovezhimself 09-03-2009 09:11 PM

Ghostface Killah for coming out with some of my favorite rap albums of all time ("Ironman" "Fishscale" and "Supreme Clientele")

BlueCadet 09-07-2009 11:31 AM

Ghostface all the way.

Ghostface
GZA
Raekwon
Method Man
Ol Dirty Bastard
Inspectah Deck
RZA
U-God
Masta Killa

moserw 09-10-2009 02:32 AM

1. GZA (Liquid Swords is amazing).
2. Raekwon (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is also amazing, just a tad behind GZA).

BTW anyone heard Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt. 2 by Raekwon?

86 Position 09-17-2009 07:09 PM

cappadonna became an official member at one point didnt he? The Pillage was sick....the Yin and The Yang....not so much lol

Supreme Clientele, OB4CL, and Liquid Swords the best Wu solos

OB4CL2 was really good though. Front 2 back, no skips (rewinds if everything)

~LK~ 09-24-2009 02:19 AM

Definitely Method Man. I have his Tical 2000 album and it's greatly underrated.
