I totally agree. I have the first two Carters and they're absolutely mediocre compared to Tha Carter III. It's almost like he became a different rapper. He perfected his game, he perfected his marketing technique. I know there are other people like this before him. I'm not saying he was mediocre in general, I'm not saying he wasn't great before. I AM saying his songs and his albums did not work as well before Tha Carter III.

I dunno, the Carter 2 was a good album. Tha Mobb is probably the best intro I've heard for an album evar. But I would say the Carter 3 is a presentation of Wayne's maturing/evolving power level in his music. Although it seems like a lot of people see it as a devolution, which confuses the hell out of me.

Have you checked out the Drought is Over 2? It's like the Carter 3, but more basic and with more tracks. Greater than or equal to, to me.

Sorry for the double post, but I've been listening to the Carter, and I do see his talent on it. I especially like his more; his voice now is wayyyy to raspy.

I'm about 6 tracks into The Carter III, I'm not really digging.

I downloaded Da Drought 2 as well in case this happened.

Lil Wayne sold that much because his a popular act, mainstream and he has a well built in audience amoung the youth. His songs were well promoted which has nothing to do with the quality.

Autotune was the worst thing ever invented and the reason why mainstream sucks now.

90's was where it was at and what modern r&b and rap IS suppose to sound like. The old school stuff before 90s is far superior but the 90's was more descent than the mess they have out now.

On Lil wayne : Lil wayne is just another product of the commerical machine nothing to be taken seriously but if you want to party at a club to his beats its good for that.

Get the Drought is Over 2 also. It's sessions for the Carter 3, a lot of good stuff on there. I'll have to get Da Drought 2 myself now, though.

His best work from The Carters IMO.

Anyways, what did you guys think of the pre-carter albums? They don't get much discussion, which I find odd considering 500 Degreez is my favorite album by him.

Yeah, he shoulda kept a ****load of the songs from that album, they were great.
