Default What Does this song need?

Tell me everything you can think of that would make this song commercial quality. Im a music producer working with a new local rapper and I think he has what it takes to do great things.

Now Ive got him a beat, but it doesnt sound commercial quality at all to me, what should I do with it?

Between the three piano beats you should bring that sound out so it's more defined. I can barely discern it. I think you should bang it like Miri Ben-Ari's violin in "Sunshine to the Rain".

IMO the number one ingredient to make any song (any genre) good is piano/keyboard... second in rap is probably violin, or some derivative of that.

It's a somewhat crafty beat, but I can't even tell what's going on once the verse comes in. There's more to it and I want to hear it when I'm listening.

I'm assuming the artist couldn't hear the beat while he was rapping, cuz he was completely off beat.

But, I think the beat is phat! Find a way to add more bass line to it, or possibly 808. Rap has become very centered around heavy bass hits!

thanks for all the help fellas, he is completely off beat isnt he? He was having trouble rapping and having the beat playing at the same time, so he wanted to try without the beat playing. Didnt work I think....

This should have been closed earlier. I have just read previous posts and it's obvious you only want to use this forum for your own ends. Closed and clickable link removed.
