I personally dont understand how MF could possibly be seen as the greatest rapper... his work under Madvillian is great, but by the looks of things he is grossly overrated. P.E are so much better

i agree wholeheartedly with the DOOM analysis, but this just isn't true by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd say MF's best album, Madvilliany, is on par with PE's fourth best album - Yo! Bum Rush the Show. Personal opinion of course

Sneer 03-07-2009 09:55 AM

Ok, maybe i'm not giving Madvilliany enough credit, it's probably on par with PE's third best album; Apocalypse 91', it is an excellent album - Vaudeville Villian in hindsight is also very good... but my original point stands

you're right Stu, anticipation's just scared of the scary militant black people. Not that i'm hating on 'abstract' student-friendly, backpacker hip-hop

i vote Doom, even if his workrate fell off. New tracks up on myspaz sound like more of the same but that's what we want innit. Good look for the forum if he can come out ontop

I went Doom. I've heard some of Wu Tang, but I think I'd like all the individuals better than the group itself.

I think Madvillainy is overrated myself. Everyone makes it out to be one of the best Hip Hop albums ever; I disagree.

P.E. are on another level influence/importance wise and considering they debuted 21 years ago it's incredible how relevant both their old albums and new ones still are.

Yeah, I don't have a clue how you wouldn't want someone like Public Enemy to win a Hip Hop competition.

^This.

I would've really liked to see del or ace take this, but alas, if we can keep the most overrated hip-hop group ever from winning I'll still be happy.

I guess political relevance doesn't mean anything anymore.
