Hip-hop battle final!!!

And it comes down to....

jackhammer 03-06-2009 05:12 PM

Yuck! Not what I would have wanted lol. Has to be MF Doom for me. I am probably the only guy into hip hop who does'nt like Wu-Tang :(

FaSho 03-06-2009 05:15 PM

Wromg. Wu-Tang are severley overrated IMO. Who would you have rather seen up there JH?

simplephysics 03-06-2009 05:28 PM

I'm still with MF Doom. Wu Tang are legendary and all that jazz, but the new generation of underground hip hop is just so ****ing good, and lets be honest, 8 Diagrams sucked balls, Wu should have left off basking in the light of their former glory.

If it were Doom vs. ATCQ I would have gone with Tribe.

Del
ATCQ

You're always saying that lol, but you seem to know plenty! Also, I finally gave Marxmen a proper listen, they've got some really good material, I'm impressed.

Glad you like them. What I mean by these sort of statements though is that it is not my general area of expertise and I wouldn't want to be seen as the guru of hip Hop on here lol. i know more than I let on though and own quite a lot of Hip Hop. Thanks for the thumbs up :)

Piss Me Off 03-07-2009 05:35 AM

I like MF Doom the more listen to him but i couldn't say no to Wu Tang.

Kirby 03-07-2009 07:40 AM

Wu-Tang. **** some MF DOOM :)

anticipation 03-07-2009 09:07 AM

p.e. has no business being in this poll, i'm glad they didn't make it.

viktor vaughn wins it.

Sneer 03-07-2009 09:13 AM

I personally dont understand how MF could possibly be seen as the greatest rapper... his work under Madvillian is great, but by the looks of things he is grossly overrated. P.E are so much better

i agree wholeheartedly with the DOOM analysis, but this just isn't true by any stretch of the imagination.

Sneer 03-07-2009 09:47 AM

I'd say MF's best album, Madvilliany, is on par with PE's fourth best album - Yo! Bum Rush the Show. Personal opinion of course

Sneer 03-07-2009 09:55 AM

Ok, maybe i'm not giving Madvilliany enough credit, it's probably on par with PE's third best album; Apocalypse 91', it is an excellent album - Vaudeville Villian in hindsight is also very good... but my original point stands

Molecules 03-07-2009 10:42 AM

you're right Stu, anticipation's just scared of the scary militant black people. Not that i'm hating on 'abstract' student-friendly, backpacker hip-hop

i vote Doom, even if his workrate fell off. New tracks up on myspaz sound like more of the same but that's what we want innit. Good look for the forum if he can come out ontop

Surell 03-07-2009 12:57 PM

I went Doom. I've heard some of Wu Tang, but I think I'd like all the individuals better than the group itself.

I think Madvillainy is overrated myself. Everyone makes it out to be one of the best Hip Hop albums ever; I disagree.

P.E. are on another level influence/importance wise and considering they debuted 21 years ago it's incredible how relevant both their old albums and new ones still are.

Surell 03-07-2009 01:57 PM

Yeah, I don't have a clue how you wouldn't want someone like Public Enemy to win a Hip Hop competition.

^This.

I would've really liked to see del or ace take this, but alas, if we can keep the most overrated hip-hop group ever from winning I'll still be happy.

Surell 03-07-2009 02:02 PM

I guess political relevance doesn't mean anything anymore.

Not even that, I guess making some of the hardest most innovative beats just isn't important.

FaSho 03-07-2009 02:06 PM

hey, if they suck, they suck. I'm not going to put an influental artist over a good artist.

ProggyMan 03-07-2009 02:09 PM

LOL, they're good. In fact, they're GREAT.

True that.

Ditto.

pourmeanother 03-07-2009 04:25 PM

Yeah, well, you know... that's just, like, your opinion, man.

ProggyMan 03-07-2009 06:35 PM

Well yeah, did I say it was a fact?

FaSho 03-07-2009 06:38 PM

What a hostile group of people the hip-hoppers on this board are.

ProggyMan 03-07-2009 06:48 PM

What do you expect when you say Public Enemy shouldn't be anywhere near this final. If you're going to say stuff like that you can't expect people not to react negatively.

FaSho 03-07-2009 06:51 PM

If you wanna know the truth i think they deserve to be up here more then Wu...:shycouch:

Kirby 03-07-2009 06:53 PM

Public Enemy > MF Doom.

FaSho 03-07-2009 06:55 PM

Biggie>MF DOOM>Public Enemy>Wu-Tang

I've only noticed you ragging on Public Enemy. But I agree.

FaSho 03-07-2009 07:00 PM

ODB's solo work is great though.

Concur.

Sneer 03-07-2009 07:06 PM

Also concur. Vehemently.
Im still staggered by this final lol

Surell 03-07-2009 07:15 PM

How do you mean, Stu?

Sneer 03-07-2009 07:34 PM

You have one group who have released one of the best hip hop albums of all time but not much else in terms of standout quality, and one guy who hasnt done anything amazing on his own and one excellent album with MadLib. I guess consistency isnt valued that much?

Surell 03-07-2009 07:43 PM

I'd say it is. He's winning off of it.

Sneer 03-07-2009 07:53 PM

What, consistency?
