Okay guys a question.
Would The Wu be so highly rated, loved and influential if they didn't have RZA production?

Of course not. RZA is architect of the whole sound. He's the reason all those guys are famous.

No, RZA is one of the best producers ever.

yeah he's the backbone for the whole group. Sure they are pretty good lyricists but without his production I don't think they would be as highly rated.

For anyone interested in the Wu, I highly recommend reading the WU Manual, a book written by RZA. It's awesome. It's written in this really smart, yet really street type of way and talks about nearly everything, from RZA's samples to how he met each members to their influences by crime, media, etc. Just overall awesome.

But back to RZA... Wu would be hardly anything without RZA. Maybe it's just the circles I've talked in but I never think RZA gets as much respect as he deserved. He basically formed the Wu. He's the one who bought the equipment and learned how to produce and make all these beats and taught the guys in the group how to clean up their lyrics and styles a little bit. He told everyone he had a 5 year plan. It was like investing. Follow RZA's ideas and in 5 years you'll make it, and that's exactly what happened.

Can't speak enough praise for RZA, he's amazing

Yeah, he's a really cool guy and is underrated compared to GZA, Raekwon and Ghostface. Just look at the "Who's the best Wu Tang Clan member?" poll results.

I feel like it's RZA's production + the charisma and appeal of members like ODB and Method Man that make the group special. At least to me.
