I don't really see turntablism as being genre-specific. Just as a guitar player can produce different kinds of music, turntablists can produce whatever genre music they want. However, I voted for hip-hop because thats where it originated from, and thats generally the type of music they produce.

The idea of turntablism as a genre of music needs to die out because it presents cutting records as a sort of novelty and not a valid instrumental mode of expression in it's own right. I think were just beginning to see the possibilities of the instruments application to various genres of music.
