I just said I'm not paying attention to their rhymes. I already know that Nicki's is more original.
I'm literally saying it was rude.
I didn't even say who I thought "won" in the matter.

Edit:
Okay I'm not arguing this point anymore, because you're both arguing things I didn't talk about in my original post.

Hitting_Singularity 12-13-2010 01:46 PM

well, like it or not, this stuff happens all the time in hip-hop and while I disagree with you FaSho, I don't think it makes rap more interesting, I think it's pretty dumb and they should all just get along and have awesome collaberations, I also think that because it happens so much it shouldn't be taken as seriously as you seem to take it, Sugar

I'm not taking it seriously. I made a point about how she was literally being rude and how she was in the wrong... and then you made a point about how her verses are better. As much as I agree with that fact, and as much as I'm sure there is a lot more to this whole argument than meets the eye, it's completely unintelligent and out of place to rebuttal my argument by bringing up an unrelated point. That's all I'm saying about that.
Now, if we're going to talk music, Nicki's verses are a lot better. When looking up the lyrics, I could have used any part of Roman's Revenge as an example. It took me much longer to find a sharp verse or a bite in Lil Kim's.
Do you understand now why I had a hard time debating this? I AGREED with you about the verses, so bringing that point up AGAINST my point, which had nothing to do with the verses... was futile.
I don't give a **** whether it happens all of the time in hip hop. I'm talking about this situation right now, because it was brought up. I know it happens all of the time in hip hop, it happens all of the time everywhere. And there are different circumstances in every situation. Don't try to generalize it.

FaSho 12-13-2010 01:56 PM

Roman's Revenge is a great track, but a bit disturbing honestly. The Eminem verse is just offputting. Since she's so big right now, I'm sure it will become super-popular soon, and become pretty controversial. I personally don't care though.

How come it's offputting, because of the things he's talking about?
Eh, in my opinion, it's no different from what Eminem was already doing, so I wasn't too surprised.

FaSho 12-13-2010 02:01 PM

Yeah. I know diss tracks tend to be really dark (Nas's Ether comes to mind), but they also don't tend to be single's sooooo

And no offense, but I don't think you've heard enough Eminem if you're making that generalization. He jokes around a lot, but he makes a lot of really tight and impacting music as well.

lol I guess I have to listen to it again and try to look at it from a different point of view. when I listen to hip-hop disturbing/violent/sexual things don't affect me as much, I guess I just go into a different state of mind or I'm used to it.. I wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing..

alright, Sugar I see your point. I guess Nicki is a bit more rude than your average artist anyways lol. It will be interesting to see if she cools down a bit once she is a bit more of a veteran.

She prolly will, I think she's doing it for attention.
I just didn't have much of a problem because it was meant to be that disturbing.

poppie 12-13-2010 05:43 PM

this the thanks that I get for puttin' you bitches on?
Is it my fault that all of you bitches gone?
Shoulda sent a thank-you note, you little ho
Now I'ma wrap your coffin with a bow
(Ni-ni-ni) "Nicki, she's just mad 'cause you took the spot"
Word, that bitch mad 'cause I took the spot?
Well, bitch, if you ain't ****tin', then get off the pot
Got some niggas out in Brooklyn that'll off your top
I-I-I-I hear them mumblin', I hear the cacklin'
I got 'em scared, shook, panickin'

In response to THAT, Lil Kim wrote Black Friday, the only song she's put out in about ten months, she said things responding like:

I get top dollar for whatever my name on
go stick your head in a tornado, brainstorm
I drop bombs, FLex, Napalm
black and yellow, will pull up in your ghetto
Giuseppe’s when I step out, posted up in stilettos
p-ssy so pink like my kitty saying hello
if I whistle, they’ll pistol whip you in all five borough’s
I’m in Brooklyn, I’ll be everywhere comfortably
now who pumped you and told you to come romp with me
you the type to run your mouth and then run from me
I’m poppin’ off in your hood with no company
come on, Queens aint showing you no love
I was there the other night poppin’ bottles with the thugs

Nicki also said things like, "The other girls will be feeding me grapes on the side of the pool" or something to that degree.
As much as I don't care for things like this, take a moment to remember these are real people. If someone said things like that about you, it doesn't matter who "wins" with their rhymes, she was wrong in the first place, she was rude.
I think people forget things like this.

Actually Lil Kim started it. Nicki was paying homage to Lil Kim and shouting out to her in interviews and such, while Lil Kim found out and told her to get lost and that she wouldn't make it. So Nicki does have a right to turn around and argue back. I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean to literally kill her, remember songs are supposed to be expression, not to be taken literally. If they were literal, Eminem would have killed dozens of people by now.

someonecompletelyrandom 12-14-2010 10:33 PM

I don't think celebrity feuds should ever be taken seriously. These two people have far too much to loose to actually kill each other. Meanwhile, it makes for some great music. I think deep down both these artists respect each other on some level. How could they not? Nicki obviously enjoyed Kim's music. Kim surely must have some respect for a female rapper who's done so well for herself.

Arya Stark 12-15-2010 12:17 AM

k i ended that argument. i have nothing more to say about that right now.

someonecompletelyrandom 12-15-2010 01:22 AM

I know, just talking about the fued in general.

It was more in response to Vanilla, sorry.
I completely agree with you. I think they're just being females and trying to make a bigger impact.
And it does make for some good, angry, intimidating music from a listening perspective.

I saw an interview where she pretty much admits she's in it for the money.

whoa, better notify the media

TheRavenEffect 12-17-2010 01:18 AM

She's a gimmick, but it works. She fits in perfectly into what hip-hop has and is turning into today. She's dope but I wasn't feeling Pink Friday too much. The two mixtapes were better

And that Monster verse truly was delivered amazingly

poppie 12-17-2010 05:03 PM

Too bad the content wasn't amazing.

Arya Stark 12-18-2010 10:52 PM

Well any content can become good with good delivery. If there's good content and shitty delivery then everything just sucks.

someonecompletelyrandom 12-18-2010 11:03 PM

The content was equally as entertaining as the delivery. What's the problem?

agreed. As far as mainstream hip-hop goes anyways.. you can't really expect anything mind-blowing

You guys are seriously missing the point but I won't speak for Awwsugar.

Arya Stark 12-19-2010 09:45 PM

Well abearmauled me is just being rude.

But yeah they are missing the point. What I meant is delivery is a lot more important.

Phantom Limb 12-19-2010 10:00 PM

Sorry, i didn't mean to be offensive (it was supposed to be "humorous"). I really meant that delivery and content are both key components and if one is done bad, you can't completely make up for (or alter) the other. And if what you said was true

Let's try again.
In MY opinion, delivery is a lot more important. Something can only get better (or stay the same, I guess) with good delivery, and with bad delivery it can be ruined.

Sorry, but I don't think you understand my comment in the overall scheme of the conversation. Anyway, i was a little bit of an ass so let me just say that I agree with you Sugar other than the point that good delivery can make bad content itself good. To me, the delivery can make it enjoyable to listen to a song maybe once or twice, but upon analyzation, I think that bad content is still bad. I guess I should just say that I didn't like Nicki Minaj's verse on Monster.

Sparky 12-19-2010 11:57 PM

I think i could make a verse sound good with kanye producing it

Phantom Limb 12-25-2010 10:51 PM

Are you kidding me? You could make any verse sound good.
