Default Is Detox worth the wait?

After 11 years Dre's final album cannot possibly meet our expectations, and whilst I am excited by 'Kush' which in my opinion is a great track, I hardly think Detox is going to be worth waiting for, if it isn't out by June next year I won't be buying. What is everyone else's opinion? Should he just let it become a Hip-Hop myth and therefore our expectations won't be ruined?

I was thinking this same thing the other day. The exact same thing. It's like I'm expecting a masterpiece you know, but Dre has a pretty strong track record. So i'm optimistic. I think it's safe to say that it won't be a "terrible" album. So as long as that stays true, I think I'll be satisfied with the end result. haha, its gonna go quadruple platinum just for the simple fact that it's dre and it's 2332423 years past due.

yeah, even if people end up hating the album, everybody will go out, buy it, then say it sucks, but it's already sold x-million copies by that point haha

So last I heard the release date was February. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's been delayed again.

That being said, I think it will be just as good as his other albums if not better. My reasoning is that the whole reason it takes so long for him to release albums is beacuse he is the biggest perfectionist for his own work. So when he does actually decide to release it, you better believe it will be perfect.

That being said again.. if it isn't an amazing album, then he must have sold out or just gave up or something, but I don't think that will happen.

What do you guys think of 'Kush' as the first single? I like the song, but I'm hoping there will be better tracks than that.

February is too soon, it needs to be pushed back til Sept.

yeah i'm really liking Kush but I just don't feel the album overall is going to live up to the long awaited hype. He kept us waiting too long to the point that either some people just don't care anymore if it comes out or they don't have high expectations of it.

I think that he made a wise decision in making Kush the lead single, considering he's said that it's the only weed track on the album it's probably best he puts out something first fans will be familiar with after being away so long, if he'd made his first single something completely different it might not of gone down well at all.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Actually, it wasn't really his decision, the track got leaked before it was finished mixing, so he wanted people to hear the finished version and not judge it on what leaked, so he made it an early single.

Remember the talk of it being released in Febuary? We're about halfway through January now, surely there should be promotion and stuff appearing, although maybe Dre has simply forgotten Australian exists, I don't know. But surely we should be seeing SOMETHING about it by now, considering he says it was finalized in december. And just curiously, how is he going to get away with calling it his own album? He never writes his own lyrics, and the two songs people can hear from it aren't produced by him either, so as far as hip-hop goes that means you've hardly touched the song.

Kush is a good song. However, it does lack the wow factor of singles from previous albums. As far as Detox goes, I don't expect it to top The Chronic or 2001 or to be absolutely amazing, though I can understand people feeling that it should be, given the wait for this album.
I'm sure it's still going to be a very good album.
