the words popularity isn't mentioned but can't you tell that by the artists he picked?

If he was someone who had a credible music taste then yeah I'd be able to tell that. But we're talking about someone who's endlessly tried to stress that Lil Wayne is the greatest thing to happen to hip-hop.

The part I bolded tells you right away what type of music taste he has and what to expect from him. I wouldn't expect him to post about influential artists.

He was posting what he thought were the most influential hip-hop artists that have helped hip-hop evolve. Which brings me back to my original point of it being an awful evaluation of hip-hop.

If I had to choose my favorite era and style of Hip-Hop, it would defiantly be "old school". The Beastie Boys, LL Cool Jay, there's just so many good tracks and artist to choose from..lol..

Officially that's classed as New School hip-hop, but I think nowadays most people think of it as Old School.

Old School: 1978 - 1983
New School: 1983 - 1988
Golden Age: 1986 - Early 90s

Those are only rough timelines (from Wikipedia)
