El-p

I searched "EL-P" and then checked 15+ pages before I made this, so apologise if there is already a thread (I assume he would have one somewhere)

El-P Announces New Album

My head just exploded, and then my head exploded.

Man, I tried, I really did try to like "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" but just couldn't get into it.
Is there any other of his works you'd recommend to perhaps change my perspective on this guy and share your excitement about the upcoming release?

edit: judging by this one beat, it's not quite as oversaturated as ill sleep when your dead. "fuck the noise your droid make" im about to have an aneurysm on this keyboard

Fantastic Damage is his best album, his work with Company Flow, especially Funcrusher Plus is great and he has had a lot of great features recently.

El-P wrote probably the single best song about domestic abuse ever with 'Last Good Sleep'. If there is any song that displays his whole ability and how he's easily on the best rappers around now, it's 'Last Good Sleep'.

"I must be entirely too fucking fresh..."

I'm pretty sure this samples the same song as Rainbows off Madvillainy.

Excited about Cancer for Cure, for sure!!

Funcrusher Plus is the best thing El-P has ever been involved with, though The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox marks his best performance as a producer.

Solo-wise, Fantastic Damage narrowly trumps I'll Sleep When You're Dead for me, though there isn't much between them. New album should be an interesting release.

Strongly disagree with this. I agree it took a degree* of talent to make vast aire sound good, but a lot of the beats sound muddled, and not a whole lot of range between songs, at least in comparison to his other releases post-company flow.

Anybody think the title for this album may be a reference to the Aesop Rock lyric,

Quote:

i found a cure for cancer but it wasn't radio friendly!
from the song "run the numbers"

* yikes

^ I hope so.

I don't think Funcrusher Plus is the best thing he has been in. I respect and love that album hugely, but after listening to it recently, and Fantastic Damage (both came in the post last week) I would have to go with the latter.

It doesn't sound as dated and EL-P goes off!
