f/uck your east vs west coast debate
whack as fuck argument, seriously. especially nowadays? jesus christ
|
Whack as fuck - agreed.
Additionally and especially among those who don't know the difference like this. |
im sayin bro im the only one whos coming with good threads lately
|
It's a great debate, stop being cry babies.
|
i still listen to a lot of Death Row, in case anybody's wondering

If you don't wanna have the debate, don't have it. Easy enough. |
how the hell is it a great debate in 2012?

It's something to discuss. Do you generally enjoy artists who are from the east or the west.
Obviously there isn't much difference between the music at this point, but its worth chatting about. Better than nothing. |

I've been saying for a long time there needs to be some kind-off topographical map for rappers locations.
It could include poverty levels as well as popular dance moves from said area, ie "jerk-movement terrority" |
I think there's a wealthy amount of good information for a good debate coming from talking about the east and west coast. It's just like discussing different bands in genres.
|
People wanting to compare artists on a music forum? Surely not...

but your comparing outdated artists based on an outdated perception of their geographical "allegiance" so-to-speak.
It's not relevant to the artists, the genre, or to the fans anymore. It was an effective media ploy from two decades ago. |
I am not even having the debate, I just listed the West Coast rappers I like from the list available on Wikipedia.
I know there is no real difference, just a matter of how many happen to be from which coast, and the blind luck of them being better in your eyes. But I don't see it as being "outdated" at all. We talk about old music all the time, it's part of the forum. |
I see what your saying, similar to comparing Chicago style jazz to new Orleans or something.
Difference is it was a smaller world, and as a result more clear distinctions in sound and character. East vs West is just so general, and really only revolves around a handful of artists anyway (snoop, pac, biggie), it's just a really trite debate. |

That's apparently not a stupid conversation to have. |

Alright then, I'll play: Swollen Members are terrible and Public Enemy are great. Discuss. Start a new thread if need be. |

I just gave an example of an even more broad and vague discussion on this site, which still seemed to generate plenty of interest. |
I don't think you answered my question.
Anyway, no takers on Swollen Members vs. Public Enemy? It could be a great thread. Maybe make a poll? |

What in the world happened to this thread? And why hasn't it been locked yet?
They don't want an east coast vs west coast thread, yet the irony is that this thread still exists. I even tried to break up tension to make an actual east coast vs west coast thread, though it didn't go too well. But damn. |

why does it make no sense to discuss the opinion that "this debate is stupid"?
you're acting like a negative opinion shouldn't be discussed "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT IT" |
I never said that. But the debate in this thread is the same debate that you're trying to debate against. So your thread is counter productive.
|
i forgot that i control what people choose to post
|
Well you kind of do considering you did start the thread.
|
yeah
if someone makes a thread and people come in and talk about something else, it's the OP's fault you're tripping anyway.. no one's doing the east coast vs west coast thing in here, they're mostly talking about why they think it's a worthwhile debate or not |

Nah forget it. I'm gonna drop it. Do what you want.
