El-P and Killer Mike are "Run The Jewels"

Killer Mike and El-P are seemingly teaming up in a "watch-the-throne" manner to give us a collab album!

SPIN Mobile - Misc - El-P and Killer Mike Are Run the Jewels, Nearly Finished With Collabo LP

Hell yeah! This is what I'm talking about! If it's even half as good as RAP Music, I'll be content. This project is gonna blow Watch The Throne out the water.

Goofle 04-10-2013 05:29 AM

Well, if EL-P is gonna be on more verses then I expect it to be better than RAP Music. Looking forward to it.

I wonder if El-P is gonna go for that futuristic sound he had on C4C?

I actually think I'm looking forward to the production more than the raps haha

Goofle 04-10-2013 05:42 AM

Split for me. Essentially because his production is so good, it's probably more worth looking forward to, but I do end up caring/appreciating his lyrics more than the beats down the line.

djchameleon 04-11-2013 11:16 AM

Here is a little teaser.

I'm looking for to more of this. I'm more into his production honestly but yeah I can't wait.

SteelyDan 04-11-2013 05:16 PM

Love both of these guys, C4C was better than RAP Music in my opinion but they're both talented as hell so I am super hyped

I think he is more of a genius rapper than he is a producer. Sure, his beats are awesome and different, but his lyrics are like my second favourite of all time.

What album contains your overall favorite El-P lyrics? Funcrusher Plus?

Tbh, I've only listened to Fantastic Damage like once so I wouldn't know but his beats did stand out to me on that album.

I'll have another go at it. Are there any other of his albums that you'd rec?

Fantastic Damage probably. The lyrics on Funcrusher Plus are awesome, but I haven't gotten that deep into it in fairness.

2:50 may be my favourite EL-P verse.

You should, and basically all of his solo albums. Cancer 4 Cure is probably his most production heavy album but still has some killer verses.

SGR 04-12-2013 06:42 AM

The flow and unity of C4C is indelible and awesome! The weirdness of Funcrusher's lyrics definitely give it it's own vibe too.

Deep Space 9mm, Blood, Innocent Leader were probably my favorite tracks off of Fantastic Damage.

I was all over Cancer 4 Cure. I had that bitch on repeat. I'm big on the production side of things.

I still need to check out I'll sleep when you're dead and high water

Did you hear RAP Music?

Nope, not yet. I'm going through his solo albums first then I'll check it out. It's a collab right?

Sorta, El-P does the production and Mike spits. I think maybe El has a feature or two.

free record in june and new song
https://soundcloud.com/foolsgoldrecs...jewels-get-it/

going to try and catch em live , kool ad (whom, fairly enough, nobody else really likes) is joining them which makes me happy.

Surell 04-29-2013 08:15 PM

Sounds rad man, even if AD isn't my favorite. He seems like he'd put on a fun show though.

Goofle 04-29-2013 09:05 PM

Kool AD is awesome.

SGR 04-30-2013 05:28 AM

Is Killer Mike's debut "Monster" worth buying? I've never heard it.

14232949 05-31-2013 11:35 AM

Banana Clipper can be downloaded here.
Listen: El-P, Killer Mike, and Big Boi: "Banana Clipper" | News | Pitchfork

Sounds really cool. Big Boi's verse is good which is promising considering his stinker of a last album.

14232949 06-26-2013 09:01 AM

Album can be downloaded free from their website.

EL-P + KILLER MIKE = RUN THE JEWELS

djchameleon 06-26-2013 09:04 AM

aawwww shiiit

thanks for that.

LoathsomePete 06-26-2013 09:35 AM

I was hoping they were using that picture of the cat in astronaut gear as their album cover.

Goofle 06-26-2013 12:11 PM

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Goofle 06-26-2013 01:21 PM

"No Come Down" is to "Stay Down" what "Nightlight" is to "Daylight"

Blarobbarg 06-26-2013 03:13 PM

Listening to it right now, just downloaded it. I'm happy so far. The production is great (as expected), and both Mike and El are both giving some really cool rhymes. I hope I'm as happy as I am right now when it's over.

This is encouraging me to see them at a festival in Louisville when I get back home... it would cost a little bit, but I think it may be worth it.

Downloading at this very moment. Thanks for sharing!

SGR 06-27-2013 05:27 AM

Lovin' it so far! Can always count on El and Mike to deliver some real ****.

djchameleon 06-27-2013 06:12 AM

"Banana Clipper" reminds me so much of "The Full Retard".

Thom Yorke 06-27-2013 10:05 AM

It was alright on first listen. Everything sounded solid but nothing really stood out to me. I'm gonna have to listen to it a few more times. Run the Jewels seemed like the best track on first listen.

14232949 06-27-2013 03:50 PM

The latter half of the album is definitely the stronger. As usual from these two it's a solid release, nothing particularly amazing but pretty good nonetheless.

A couple songs on here reminded me a lot of beats from C4C.

Goofle 06-28-2013 12:21 PM

No Way Down (think its called that) is basically Stay Down v.2.

SGR 06-28-2013 04:28 PM

"No Come Down" actually didn't remind me of Stay Down. What about it do you find similar?

Goofle 06-28-2013 04:41 PM

The shame you are now feeling at not noticing it at first will pass.

retr0andrew 06-29-2013 12:02 AM

I thought this was pretty great. I don't think this was the greatest thing both Mike or El-P have made to date, but I still enjoyed the album as a whole.

yeah, I listened to both of them and I'm not getting the vibe either. Maybe it's going over my head.

Goofle 06-29-2013 05:26 AM

The lyrics/rhyme sceme is intentionally similar. And the beat has a similar rhythm, just not sound.

maekiee 07-01-2013 06:22 AM

great album
