True. But we don't get a whole lot of music from Africa over here in America/Europe as far as I know.

Posting a vid of an African rapper doesn't have any meaning to the Western music market, which is obviously what the OP was talking about. #goalpostmoving

Rap has a lot of variety and different cultures to pin it on race these days.

Well i can only name a handful of good white rappers does that answer your question?

but here is a crazy theory

i think black ppl don't care much about the skin tone of rappers i think they care about the struggle

their "street cred" as they say..
it's very much like the saying "To play the blues you have to pay your dues" if they see a suburban white boy getting a head start in the rap game simply because white rappers are scarce they are bound to call them out

Not to mention black ppl are wary of white ppl to begin with (Slavery will do that)

rapping is not all about skills it's also about your background
This is why all these black rappers have to say they were drug dealers in real life before they became rappers

it doesn't even matter if it's f*ckin true or not if you don't have some sorta poverty ridden background you got no street cred

especially in a genre like rap and hip hop which is 90% a rag to riches story were even the more artsy kinda rappers are not above plugging the hood
