I can't imagine accounts for businesses and organizations will randomly like Ice Cube on their page.

No offense or anything but if somebody made a facebook account more than several times just to like a page more than several times, honestly sounds a bit looped.

Not saying it couldn't happen but it really really does sound far-fetched.

Ice Cube is known more worldwide, & I didn't even say otherwise.

Don't really care how many cunts on Facebook click 'like' on a page.

I bet Tulisa is not a household name here cos she's only got 700k likes on FB.

Alright, then Ice Cube is a household name on the global scale, since he's several times more popular. "End of"

No one said you have to care how many ****s on facebook click like on your page, if you have more, you objectively are more popular than someone who has less. It's called logic mate, get in touch with it, use it, it'll help you in times like these where you're becoming increasingly irrational because you can't make a valid point to save your skin.

Who the **** is Tulisa? I bet she's at about the same level of household namery as Dizzee, since they have about the same amount of likes on FB.

I bet the vast majority of the FB users who like Ice Cube are bots, yo.

LOL even if you assume a majority are fake accounts, he's still immensely popular.

We are not discussing popularity, we are discussing who is more known.

household name
noun
1.
a person or thing that is well known by the public.
And my original claim, was that Ice Cube isn't a household name in the UK.

Not sure why you're moving the goalposts.

No she's just more hated than he is. Everyone here knows who she and her group are or the X Factor.

Which is based off of what?

Pretty much sums up what you've been doing since the beginning of the discussion.

First the "household name" implies that you're known throughout all age groups, regardless of interest.

Quote:

Depends which demographic you asked. I would say a household name would be known amongst all age groups and people who have an interest in that person's field or not, which wouldn't be the case for Ice Cube imo.
Well obviously, there had to be exceptions.

Quote:

I'm not talking about imams in caves in Afghanistan or tribes in the Amazon, they are excluded. I mean western society & in particular Britain which is where I live. Ice Cube would be well known with Hip-Hop fans & people between roughly 16-35.
Oh, nope, it's my general area, because I know what I'm talking about when it comes to my general area.

Quote:

People I consider to be genuine household names would be known amongst pretty much everyone, here.
Oh, so he's a hip-hop household name. Now we're getting somewhere.

Quote:

I would say a Hip-Hop household name but not a general one.

Prove it.

I don't think so because Billboard does polls every year specifically to see which artist has the most face book friends and likes. The MJ, Gaga, and Eminem fans do it all the time.

That is why facebook likes and youtube likes/viewership are not good measures to based popularity on but Billboard has recently used these things as measures

Edit: Sorry misunderstood you.

Definition of fanatics: Making multiple accounts on facebook to bump up artists on a Billboard chart.

I find that hard to believe. That's pretty much just trying to accomplish something that has already been accomplished by bumping up popularity for artists who are already one of the most popular artists known. If it's really that insignificant, then why do it on facebook? If anything I think that reaffirms their popularity.

What the fans do is they post poll links or their pages on their favorite artist forums and fans will vote more than once.

This happens all the time.

And I was sitting here wondering how Michael Jackson won all the polls. But it's good to know you were behind it.

MJ is the most popular artist on the planet but die hard fans will do this regardless of how famous an artist already is.
