when Beastie Boys and Run DMC came through Reno in 1987 i convinced my mom to take me....to this day i still take shit from her for this

watching that video makes me wonder how in the hell Ad Rock married Kathleen Hanna :)

Mainstream hip hop has occasional gems that I occasionally fall in love with, but Tyler the Creator and his crazy talks with his therapist saved me from being a casual listener and made me really fall in love with the genre.

Along with Sugarhill and Schooldaddy, i'd have to give it up to compilation hip hop stuff from the early 80's. I used to break dance and it was huge in So-Cal. We used to hit competitions with about 1000 heads present. I always love Run DMC but {Its Time} by Soul was the first to really make me take notice.

Actually I realise that MMLP was my first rap record (got it at 13-14). My friend got the explicit version on a cassette and I still love it to this day. It was his best record. Lately I've been repeating Rap God over and over. Christian I'm trying to get into his more recent records. I'm going to take some time and then I'll tell you if I think differently about the new stuff.

At first I was like OMG no with him but now I love his records. My favourite album is definitely Wolf but Goblin had it's merits too.

Hello Nasty had some jams. I'd take that any day of the week over Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. That album was atrocious.
