No, I backed up my claim and you admitted that rap sales were on the decline, and I gave some examples of rap not being as dominant in pop songs as it previous was. The argument just isn't important enough for me to subject myself to the hours of $hitty pop music dating back to Usher, Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears. If you haven't noticed the dominance of rap in pop music over the last decade my question to you would be...where have you been?

Let me ask you this, heavy metal isn't as dominant as it once was. It doesn't dominate record sales or the pop charts like it did in the 80's. Are you therefore saying that rap music is somehow immune to the natural decline that metal & other musical genres go through, and that it is therefore a more enduring & defacto culturally superior form of art?

Rap music is garbage. It is corrupting our youth and it encourages abusing alcohol and drugs and it has no respect for women. I don't accept it as music or as a culture. Black culture is ruining America and making our country look bad. If it was up to me, I would ban all public radio stations that air rap music.

You realize that people had those same sentiments about Rock 'n Roll, right? They thought it was overly simplistic nonsense created solely for young slackers to shout about sex and drugs, and that Rockers were without any musical talent whatsoever. Not only that, they claimed that it was corrupting the youth, and tried to ban it from radio stations.

This same pointless fight happens every generation.

What's wrong with my Japanese, the Romanization or the particles?

Blanche_Minim 12-13-2014 09:20 AM

Ok too many to quote here...

I was skating and then watching a game last night and then watching the last episode of an anime. Next day I saw a barrage of comments.

First of all the Japanese, I am taking an Elementary Japanese course in my school and I plan to take the higher level next year. I am still getting used to the particles, they are like prepositions in English. Anyways, I'll be speaking fluent Japanese a couple of years from now. I have plans on it in my music, because I watch anime and listen to anime music. I draw as well.

Second the rap, this is not going to be the last time I'll be discussing this aspect. I am not here to eliminate rap, I am just one of those individuals who don't like this genre. For example, the song Let it Go from the movie Frozen. I never watched the movie, because I don't consider it a Disney Classic. When it comes to the song, even if you play it a million times on me, even if they used one of my favorite word fractals, I just can't like the song, ever. Same with rap and the mainstream music, where Midi is used and they are frequently played in the shopping malls. I just don't like rap. There are things in this life that I just don't like.

I am surprised that there are people, who defend this mediocre genre, that is not part of Western Music Tradition for centuries. Even Pop Music has it's roots in Folk Music.

I don't care about the content, whether the composer is an angel or a demon. For example, John Lennon composed the song "Imagine", the atheistic views of the song contradicts with my Judeo-Christian views, but I still like it because it has a nice melody. At least rock and roll has guitar solos and a skill in making licks and improvisation. Yeah this people dropped out of school, but they're more brilliant than rappers, who can barely play an instrument.

Have you heard of the saying "All talk with no action?", that's what rap is about.

Does that mean I'm not allowed to like to soul, funk & reggae for the same reason?

I'm too busy laughing at threads like this to take this one seriously
