Die Antwoord is hilarious, and I have to think that to some extent, he and his band mate must not take their self all too seriously either. Their music is comical. We're not saying Die Antwoord is this amazing group, because they're not. But they're also not bad either, they're fairly decent to good.

And I as well, will ask why Drake is your favorite, James? Because he's another that I feel is horribly overrated.

And don't get me started on Kanye. Dude may have some good music, but he's not that great.

I've never actually heard of Die Atwood before, as for Drake I heard a few of his songs and got bored. As for Kanye I don't really know where to start, I've heard great things abo it the guy, I've heard really crappy things about him as well, so I haven't jumped into that pool of work yet.

You need to expose yourself to Die Antwoord. If you have a sense of humor, you will love it.

And so, Kanye has some good music, but he's got this ego about him that he's the gift to the world in regard to Rap or Hip Hop. I like some of his music, have plenty of it on my computer. But I am so over all the praise he gets when so much of it is undeserved. Anyway. I'd say go ahead and check out Kanye and his music, he's got some good stuff.

I just think he's the most charismatic rapper in it right now. Amazing production. Personal, honest lyrics on one hand. Banging party tunes on the other. Take Care and Nothing Was The Same are up there with the albums I've listened to the most.

Could be Kanye or Lil Wayne. But there are a number of suspects. I always get the sense Drake loves his friends more than they love him.

If it is Kanye she's referring to then yeah I'm a big fan. New Kanye and New Drake are probably up there in my most anticipated albums, just behind The Wrens. Who are one of my favourite bands. But I think Kanye's ego gets in the way so much that it taints him more than Drake. I think in overly lyrical hip-hop, honesty and charisma are two of the most important factors. Kanye's a genius but he doesn't connect as much. Drake is just on absolute top form.

I honestly think Die Antwoord are just characters. It's masterful.
As for Drake being my favourite rapper I hope I have clarified. I think Hold On We're Going Home was by far the best single last year.

I'm a big fan of fairly funny music so I'm sure I'll like Die Antwood, if it's anything like PINK GUY in the slightest I'll probably love it.

As for Kanye I'll check some of his stuff out, anything by him that you'd suggest going into first, I was thinking Yeezus, but I don't know if that's a good place to start or not.

I think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the best starter. It's just such a huge and ambitious effort that I think will go down as a serious classic.

Yeah, they definitely don't take themselves seriously at all. It's hard to imagine anyone could think otherwise.

Ja my comment was a joke about Kanyes ego. I think he has good music sometimes, but my god is he a horrible rapper.

damn i should've made this thread at the end of the weekend rather than the start of the weekend since i work weekends. anyway..

dmx: pretends to be spiritual and principled while consistently engaging in crackhead type behavior. and this affects his music as well. if dmx had stuck to his guns and kept making the type of music he had originally made he might have made some sort of impact on hip hop. instead he conformed to whatever the newest production style was and did his damndest to make club tracks but turns out there's not much of a market for psychopathic sporadically barking cokeheads in the hip hop club scene.basically he's a sell out and a media whore, not to mention another mediocre actor that plays himself in every movie.
