Default Trap $hit

So trap music is super popular the past few years and mostly it is all thay hip hop radios would play.

Post all your favorites here. I need some suggestions. I am like bending over backwards to attempt to like this sub genre but I am just not feeling it so far.

I love EDM trap btw. Might head over to Electronic section and made a thread on that.

Okay so a short history of trap for those that don't know.

Quote:
Trap music is a music genre that originated in the early 1990s in the Southern United States.[1][2] It is typified by its aggressive lyrical content and sound, where the instrumentals are propelled by 808 kick drums or heavy extended sub-bass lines, double-time, triple-time and other faster time division hi-hats,[3] layered synthesizers, and "cinematic" strings.
Straight from Wikipedia.

I have two friends that ****ing love this sub genre of rap and I just don't really get it. I want to put together some music for one of them so that's why I was looking for suggestions. I also wanted to explore it a little more myself to see if maybe I could find something decent in all of the trash I have heard so far.

If you haven't heard this song at least once, you probably don't have a pulse. It gets played so damn much. It was also on Kanye's Life of Pablo and just hit Billboard number 1 a few weeks ago. The last rapper to hit number was Jay-Z back in like 2000 something with that NY song with Alicia Keys.

Desiigner - Panda

Well, I just watched the video and I already liked that song but the video makes me love it so much more. I feel like it is the only trap song that I'm really into. I will go through this thread and give the others a listen to see if I find any others that pique my interest.

Also if you are posting youtube vids in this thread. Please put the artist and title above the video and also be mindful of how many you post in one post. If it is like more than three then put them behind a spoiler tag. Thanks. It helps.

Yeah, definitely not my favourite subgenre of rap, but one of my best friends listens to it almost exclusively.

Future is obviously the go-to for the goods.

Pouya is definitely a novelty rapper but he's hilarious and his Twitter account makes me enjoy his stuff way more.

Denzel Curry >>>

Jazz Cartier always has a nice blend of trap and cloud rap going, and Hotel Paranoia is a pretty solid trap project.

Lucki Eck$, the originator of "alternative trap" has been one of the most interesting rappers in the scene. Really drugged out delivery, rhymes that aren't cringe worthy, and a really unique beat selection.

Yeah, like I said, Pouya is a glorified gimmick rapper but I still feel the need to plug him every chance I get just because he's so funny. Lucki is definitely worth your time if you haven't given it to him. His Alternative Trap mixtape from a few years back is awesome, especially if you likes rhymes about 90's cartoons and pro wrestling (who doesn't?)

After putting together a playlist of trap music, it is starting to grow on me but still not my fave though.

Right now I have just been bumping the more popular tunes.

Fetty Wap - RGF Island

Fetty Wap - 679

I really liked that Pouya track and I might go looking for more of his content.

I listened to Fetty Wap's album though and boo it isn't a good album listening experience. Trap music is better in small doses. If you try to listen to an album, all of the songs end up starting to merge together and they stand out in any way. At least that's what happened while I was listening to Fetty Wap's debut. With trap music, I just have to ignore the lyrics and pay attention to how it makes me feel beats/production wise.
